We recently connected with Joseph Capalbo and have shared our conversation below.
Joseph, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I have always been passionate about music and creating something that resonates with people. This passion drives me to work hard and put in the necessary effort to write and produce high-quality songs. I’m grateful for the opportunity to do what I love for a living and enjoy the process and have been fortunate enough to have some great mentors and role models in my life who have instilled in me the importance of hard work and dedication. They have taught me that success is not just about talent, but also about putting in the time and effort to hone your craft. I’ve learned that work ethic is one of the variables that we, as creators, have control over to allow us to get closer to success.
Lastly, I believe that discipline and consistency are key to maintaining a strong work ethic. I make sure to set clear goals for myself and create a structured schedule that allows me to stay focused and productive. Of course, there are times when I may feel unmotivated or uninspired, but I push through those moments and remind myself of the bigger picture.
Overall, my work ethic is a combination of passion, mentorship, and discipline. I believe that these factors have helped me to achieve success in my career and will continue to drive me forward in the future.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I write and produce custom music for commercial and personal brands and visual media projects of all sizes. Some of my past clients include Coca Cola, AT&T, Microsoft, ABC, NBC, CBS, Netflix, Hulu, US Bank, and so many more. As a musician, songwriter, music producer, and music mentor, my work revolves around creating and producing music that resonates with people and showing people the direction to achieve their goals and fulfill their visions of success. When I work with clients, seeing their reaction to how their vision becomes a reality and watching them grow their brand because they chose to work with a high-quality producer makes it feel very rewarding.
As for my brand, I believe in being authentic and true to myself as an artist. I don’t try to fit into any particular genre or mold, but rather let my creativity guide me. I also value collaboration and working with other talented musicians and producers to create something truly unique.Overall, I’m passionate about what I do and I hope that my music and work ethic can bring joy and inspiration to others.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most impactful qualities that have impacted my journey have been perseverance, creativity, and collaboration. Perseverance is key in the music industry, as there are many ups and downs and it can be easy to get discouraged. Creativity is also essential, as it allows you to stand out and create something unique. And collaboration is important because it allows you to create something that directly aligns with the vision of someone in need of music – the ability to actively listen and translate that into a piece of music.
For those who are early in their journey, my advice would be to focus on developing these three qualities. Perseverance can be developed by setting goals and working towards them consistently, even when things get tough. Creativity can be improved by experimenting with different styles and techniques, and by constantly seeking inspiration from a variety of sources. And collaboration can be fostered by networking with other musicians and industry professionals, and by being open to feedback and constructive criticism. By focusing on these three areas, I believe that anyone can achieve success in the music industry.
