Meet Joseph Luckett

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joseph Luckett. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Joseph , so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
Self-care is an essential part of my daily routine. I believe that taking care of myself first allows me to be more productive, focused, and creative throughout the day. Here are some of the habits and practices that I follow for self-care:

– I start my day the night before. I prepare everything I need for the next morning, such as water, towels, toothbrushes, and coffee mugs. This saves me time and energy in the morning and helps me avoid stress and distractions.
– I have a strict no-phone policy before 9:30 am. I do not check or respond to any calls, texts, or social media messages until after I have completed my morning rituals. This gives me space and clarity to focus on myself and my goals for the day.
– I have a consistent morning routine that includes reading, working out, showering, stretching, and eating a healthy breakfast. These activities help me wake up, energize, and nourish my body and mind. They also set the tone and mood for the rest of the day.
– I guard my “yes” and my “no”. I do not overcommit to things that are not aligned with my priorities, values, and intentions. I know how to say no to things that do not serve me or my goals. This helps me avoid burnout, frustration, and resentment.
– I live a life through the lens of a moving target perspective. I love having my beliefs, perspectives, and opinions challenged for growth. I never want to get stuck in what is called cognitive dissonance. I am always open to learning from others and trying new things that could improve my morning routine and my overall well-being.

These are some of the things that I do for self-care and how they have impacted my effectiveness. I hope this answer gives you some insight into my lifestyle and philosophy. I would love to hear what you do for self-care and how it has helped you in your personal and professional life.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Joseph Luckett’s journey into the realm of business networking began unexpectedly, sparked by an invitation from a friend in June of 2010. Arriving at a gathering, he found himself standing in line at the registration table, overlooked and unheard. This experience became the catalyst for a remarkable journey that would redefine networking paradigms.

As Luckett absorbed the conversations and revelations within that gathering, a world previously unknown to him unfolded. The astonishing income earned from referrals and the strategic growth of networks ignited a curiosity that led him to question how he could contribute and add value to this space.

However, initial encounters revealed an unsettling reality – a lack of inclusivity. A woman at a Chamber of Commerce event revealed that Luckett was an anomaly in attendance. Unfazed, he spoke up, challenging the efficacy of prevalent networking practices, highlighting the absence of a universal process yielding measurable results.

Determined to understand and contribute, Luckett scoured libraries and the internet in search of educational resources dedicated to universal business networking principles. To his surprise, he found a void; no such comprehensive guide existed. This realization fueled his ambition to pioneer a paradigm shift in the networking sphere.

With a thirst for knowledge, Luckett engaged in countless meetings, meticulously recording successes and failures. Puzzled by the disparity between individuals’ networking outcomes, he embarked on a mission to demystify this discrepancy.

His burning question emerged: “What can I do to impact people globally and eternally add value to their lives?” The resounding answer lay in teaching effective networking methods, transcending race, gender, and geography to empower individuals across diverse industries.

Encouraged by friend and confidante Laura Boedges, Luckett penned the #1 International Bestseller, “Zero to 100: The Gold Standard of Global Networking.” This groundbreaking book, backed by scientific analysis, soared to the top of Amazon charts in 43 hours across multiple countries and categories.

Esteemed figures in the networking sphere, including Ivan Misner, Steven David Elliot, Chas Wilson, and Mayor Dan Borgmeyer, rallied behind “Zero to 100.” Their endorsements hailed the book as a game-changer, offering practical, real-world skills for fostering enduring relationships and professional growth.

“If you apply just some of Joseph’s concepts from this book, it undoubtedly will help you become a more effective networker and connecter.” – Dr. Ivan Misner, Founder of BNI (Business Network International) and NY Times Best Selling Author.

“Luckett’s book fills a gaping void in networking literature. Rather than just telling you to grow your sphere of influence, he explains in detail how to grow a network from scratch and most importantly how to follow up with your new tribe. Put this book on the shelf with classics by Carnegie and Ziglar.” – Steven David Elliot, CVO of Rockstar Connect and author of Mingle: Face to Face Networking in the Digital Era.

“The research and work Mr. Joseph Luckett has put into Zero to 100 is the equivalent of having a coach right next to you at all times. When the principles found in this book are put into practice, it’s like a written guarantee that you’re word of mouth advertising will prove wildly successful!”

Rich DeForest, Founder, NTi (Networking Today International)

“Our education system doesn’t teach us the vital skills of networking for business and career advancement, therefore many people experience trepidation when it comes to the thought of the activity. Joseph’s book is a great tool for increasing your networking IQ and will empower you to open doors to unlimited new possibilities.”

Sulaiman Rahman, CEO of DiverseForce

“Zero to 100 brings practical, real-world skills for building a strong network. This book gives the foundation for anyone who is looking to connect with others and build long-lasting relationships.” – Chas Wilson, President & Co-Founder of Master Networks Inc.

“Zero to 100 is truly the best book on networking. The Gold Standard of Global Networking and the #1 International Bestseller.” – Mayor of St. Charles, Missouri Dan Borgmeyer.

“It is worth mentioning that this book stands out as the only business-networking book backed by scientific research in the world.”

“Zero to 100” is currently available on WorldCat.org and can be found in local libraries throughout the United States and internationally. It has been included in the collections of various educational institutions, such as Monroe Elementary School, St. Charles West High School, St. Charles Community College Library, and recently, Concordia University Ann Arbor in Michigan.

A study reportedly indicates that readers who applied the principles outlined in the book experienced a significant increase in career advancement (234%), leads generated (279%), and income earned (170%).

In its simplest form, “Zero to 100” is a company founded to teach people how to network in the most efficient and effective ways possible, delivered through Luckett’s book and their 7-month program, “The Student.”

Luckett’s journey, from an overlooked newcomer to a visionary reshaping the networking paradigm, stands as a testament to the power of dedication, innovation, and the unwavering pursuit of excellence.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. **Curiosity and Observational Skills:** My journey began with a keen observation of a networking event where you were initially overlooked. This experience sparked your curiosity, prompting you to delve deeper into the world of networking. Embracing curiosity and sharpening observational skills allowed you to identify gaps and opportunities within the networking sphere. For those starting their journey, fostering curiosity and honing observation skills can be key in identifying areas for innovation and growth within their field.

2. **Perseverance and Adaptability:** My persistence in seeking knowledge despite the absence of available resources drove you to create something groundbreaking. Faced with a lack of universal networking education, you persevered, adapting to challenges and seeking solutions. Early journeyers can benefit from developing resilience, persistence, and adaptability when faced with obstacles, using them as stepping stones toward innovation.

3. **Commitment to Value and Innovation:** My commitment to adding value and innovating in the networking space is evident in the creation of “Zero to 100.” You sought to fill a void and bring about a paradigm shift by introducing a scientifically backed approach to networking education. Encouraging early journeyers to focus on adding value, seeking innovation, and identifying unique contributions they can make within their industry can pave the way for impactful progress.

For those starting their journeys, my advice would be to embrace curiosity, observe keenly, persevere through challenges with adaptability, and maintain a commitment to adding value and fostering innovation. Continual learning, seeking mentorship, and remaining open to new perspectives can further enhance these qualities and skills, providing a strong foundation for a successful journey.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was the many lessons they taught me. I reflect on these lessons constantly. As a child, I didn’t grasp their full meaning, but as I matured into adulthood, their significance became clear. I am forever grateful for these lessons, as they have shaped my understanding and guided me throughout my journey.
