We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Josette Tyne a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Josette, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I developed my confidence and self-esteem largely through the influence of my mother. She raised me to stand strong, walk with my head held high, and believe in myself no matter the circumstance. She instilled in me the importance of not letting others affect my sense of self or stand in my way.
Additionally, attending modeling school at a young age helped reinforce these values. It taught me how to carry myself with poise, be comfortable in my own skin, and embrace what makes me different. That experience gave me a strong foundation in self-presentation and inner confidence, which I carry with me in both personal and professional settings.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Josette Tyne, also known as JCash Jewels. One of the first things I’d love for people to know about me is that the name “JCash” is deeply personal—it stands for Josette, Cha’mir, Aidan, and Shiloh, which represents me and my three boys. They are my world, and everything I do is rooted in love and purpose because of them.
What excites me most about what I do is the unpredictability and variety that each day brings. No two days are ever the same. One day I might be styling for a film, the next I could be hosting an event, doing an interview, or even working as an extra in a movie. The diversity of experiences makes the journey incredibly fulfilling and fun—this isn’t just work for me, it’s my passion.
JCash is best known for its eclectic, handmade jewelry curated from around the world. I originally started by designing and crafting every piece myself, but as I began traveling more—through Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, and even locally throughout Florida—I started incorporating unique finds from my journeys. Each piece tells a story, and my collection reflects a global perspective fused with personal meaning.
At the heart of everything I do is creativity, authenticity, and a deep connection to culture and community. That’s what makes my work—and my brand—truly special.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three most important qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have guided me are:
Always putting God first – My faith is the foundation of everything I do. It keeps me grounded, focused, and aligned with my purpose, no matter what challenges come my way.
Resilience and perseverance – Life and business both come with highs and lows, but learning to keep going, stay positive, and trust the process has been essential to my growth and success.
Being true to myself – In a world that often tries to mold you into something else, I’ve learned the value of authenticity. Whether it’s through my brand, my work, or my relationships, staying true to who I am and embracing my uniqueness has opened doors and created meaningful connections.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Over the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been public speaking. When I first started, I was so nervous that my cousin or my husband would often speak on my behalf or answer questions for me. But I knew that in order to grow and take things to the next level, I had to face that fear head-on.
Now, over 12 years into my journey, I can proudly say I’ve truly stepped out of my comfort zone. I’ve challenged myself to show up fully, speak with confidence, and represent my brand and vision in my own voice. It’s been a powerful transformation—one that’s not only helped me grow personally, but has also allowed me to connect more deeply and authentically with others.
