Meet Josh Schneider

We recently connected with Josh Schneider and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be an illustrator. I drew constantly, & when I was younger I originally thought it’d be comic books. As I got a lil order I shifted into studying medical illustration & more detailed subject matter. Then I got my 1st tattoo the day I turned 18, and that literally changed everything. It was just like “nope, this is what it’s gonna be from now on”.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’ve been tattooing since 1999, & have put most of my creative energy into that ever since. I’ve also been customizing jackets since around 1992, originally just for myself, but have done pieces for many collectors over the years. I do a lot of watercolor based paintings, for tattoo studies & commissions as well. The longer I use these particular outlets, they seem to kinda overlap in a weird but natural way.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Consistency, Humility & Perseverance are the 3 things I value most in my journey so far. Consistently to deliver a solid product & value to your clients every time. Humility to realize u don’t have all the answers, knowing it’s ok to ask questions & be open to learning. Perseverance to keep going with your process & have faith in what you’re doing.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is someone who is looking for an authentic, personalized, experience. Whether it’s a tattoo, painting or jacket, I take my time & listen to what it is they’re trying to express. Building a relationship is what is important in career longevity, & some of my favorite people I’ve met in exactly this way. Everyone is welcome, let’s have some fun & get weird 🖤
