Meet Josh Wendt

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Josh Wendt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Building confidence and self-esteem is a journey every creator faces, and at Zero Dark, we’ve embraced that challenge through YouTube and Twitch content creation. Confidence in front of the camera doesn’t come overnight—it takes consistent practice, learning from mistakes, and building trust with your audience.

For us at Zero Dark, engaging with fans on YouTube gaming videos, Twitch livestreams, and interactive chats built a sense of belonging. Every upload, livestream, and highlight reel improved not just our content, but our belief in ourselves as creators. Confidence and self-esteem in gaming, esports, and streaming come from showing up daily, supporting your team, and letting your personality shine.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My name is Josh Wendt, and I am the founder of Zero Dark, South Carolina’s home for gaming, esports, photography, videography, and entertainment. My journey began in filmmaking, where I developed a passion for storytelling through video. That passion naturally transitioned into YouTube content creation, where I discovered how powerful digital platforms could be for connecting with audiences, building community, and showcasing creativity.

What excites me most about Zero Dark is that it’s more than just a business—it’s a creative hub where gamers, streamers, and content creators can come together. Whether it’s esports competitions, YouTube videos, Twitch livestreams, or high-quality photography and videography, Zero Dark thrives on helping people share their stories and passions.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding Zero Dark’s gaming and esports community in Bluffton, Hilton Head, Beaufort, and Savannah, Georgia, while also growing our online presence through YouTube and Twitch. We are launching new content series, hosting interactive events, and continuing to provide services that inspire both creativity and confidence in others.

At its core, Zero Dark is about entertainment, collaboration, and innovation—building a platform where creativity meets community, and where passion for gaming and content creation can truly shine.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey, three qualities stand out as the most impactful: creativity, consistency, and community building. Creativity fueled my early days in filmmaking and later in YouTube content creation and Twitch streaming. Consistency allowed me to keep growing through challenges, building confidence and trust with my audience. And community building was the heart of it all—connecting with gamers, creators, and supporters who shared the same passion for gaming, esports, photography, videography, and entertainment.

For anyone starting their journey, whether it’s in content creation, gaming, or entrepreneurship, my advice is simple: first, invest in your creativity. Don’t be afraid to try new formats, experiment with videos, or showcase your personality. Second, stay consistent. Growth on platforms like YouTube and Twitch takes time, and showing up regularly is what separates long-term success from short-term hype. Third, focus on community. Engage with your audience, collaborate with others, and make people feel part of your story.

The truth is, building something like Zero Dark took patience, persistence, and passion. If you embrace those qualities, your journey—whether in business or content creation—will always move forward.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

At Zero Dark, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. We are always looking for passionate and creative people to partner with. We welcome collaborations with gamers, streamers, YouTube creators, Twitch broadcasters, esports players, photographers, videographers, and local businesses who share our vision of building a vibrant entertainment community in Bluffton and Hilton Head.

We are especially interested in working with content creators who want to grow their reach, as well as brands and local sponsors that are looking to connect with the fast-growing gaming and creative industries. Whether it’s hosting events, producing high-quality content, or building unique community experiences, Zero Dark is focused on innovation and collaboration.

If you’re reading this and would like to partner with us, the best way to connect is through our Zero Dark website, or social media channels, where we share updates on new projects, events, and opportunities. Together, we can push the boundaries of gaming, esports, and digital content creation, while inspiring creativity and entertainment for audiences both locally and online.
