Meet Joshua

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Joshua. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Joshua below.

Joshua, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I believe we have many purposes in life or as they refer to as our “Dharma” which means “to hold or t0 support. This comes from the Sanskrit scriptures. Being of service to others has always been part of my nature. Whether it’s time, knowledge or just a helping hand, I believe we find our purpose in the service of others. I’ve explored many interests, Meditation being what of them. This particular practice has truly elevated my thinking and my ways of being. Stillness allows us to process and observe what direction we need to continue on and also be discerning. This has created a lot of momentum in my life. Think about what you enjoy doing and what brings you a sense of fulfillment. This can be anything from a hobby to a career path. To all entrepreneurs, I propose you try different things and be open to new experiences to help you discover what you’re passionate about.

Another way to find your purpose is to consider the impact you want to have on the world. What problems or issues do you care about, and how can you contribute to solving them? It could be through volunteering, starting a nonprofit, or pursuing a career that aligns with your values.

Personal hardships can also be an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. Reflecting on the past challenges I’ve faced made me realize how resilient and resourceful I can be. When our backs are against the wall per se, we definitely learn a lot about ourselves. This is a huge part in our personal growth as human beings.

As I mentioned helping others can bring a sense of meaning and fulfillment and can also provide insight into what you’re passionate about. Consider volunteering or finding ways to give back to your community.

Remember, finding your purpose is a journey, not a destination. It may take time and self-reflection, but the effort is worth it in the end.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Being an entrepreneur has allowed me to explore many avenues that peaked my interest throughout the years, which has been a true blessing. From starting my first company 11 years ago, Endeavor Management Group to currently being the vice president of business development at Silveridge Group. Silveridge Group is a business consulting firm that was established in 1994 by Joseph Amato, who is the former Director of the Small Business Administration of the West Coast. Since joining Silver Ridge Group last year, we have assisted with many small business owners with the reopening of their businesses, expansion of their business and acquiring capital for their business. This has led to many small business owners to continue living their dreams and being able to accomplish their goals.
This has added layers to my skills in the management consulting sector as well. I highly recommend to all readers that reading every day and writing goals every day will lead to where you want to be. Repetition is key !!Each day i’ve grown a lot in all aspects of my life . Discipline is the key to success. Daily incremental improvements leads to amazing things

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I advise everyone to always be Kind and be willing to listen with the intention of learning instead of responding. Being a great listener has allowed me to learn more about myself in many ways. Also, daily goal setting. Whether it’s reading one page or walking around the block, it all matters and it all helps with our growth and understanding ourselves. Always be willing to learn and master your craft. And enjoy every moment of it.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I feel overwhelmed or anxious about anything, I immediately pause and ask myself “what am I worried or anxious about’? this allows me to observe what’s going on without any judgement. Writing down what were anxious about will also bring a lot of answers and will actually show us that what were usually “worried” or “anxious” about never really comes to fruition
