Meet Joshua Gardner

We recently connected with Joshua Gardner and have shared our conversation below.

Joshua, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Most of the confidence that I have came from realizing that the people who are supposed to “know things” most of the time really had no idea what they were talking about. As a kid seeing through the veil of the illusions of teachers, parents, and adults in my life being these all knowing beings is where my confidence started.

As an adult I see it all the time in the media, in the stock market, and in the workplace. Idiocy is running rampant. One of the most prominent places that I’ve noticed this is in the film industry.

One day on a film set when the idiocy I spoke about was at an all time high and my patience for it was at an all time low I reached my boiling point. After watching the individual they for some reason put in charge on this set run a muck and after having my ideas and solutions to problems ignored for weeks I made a simple suggestion. In response to that suggestion I received the lecture of all lectures from someone who’s veil of illusions I could plainly see through. In this lecture he told me that I would never think outside the box like him. To which I replied I’ll turn your box over and step on it. That day BoxCrush was born.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

BoxCrush Promotions LLC was founded on the premise of not just thinking outside of the proverbial box but destroying boxes all together. One of the ways we are doing that is by crushing the boxes used as barriers between celebrities and their fans. Whether it is through a fan owning a signature or rare piece of that artist’s memorabilia, meeting that artist at one of our in person meet and greet events or getting to know their story on a more intimate level through our documentary filmmaking, we crush boxes every day to bring the fan and the celebrity closer together.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The top three skills

Seeing through the veils. Knowing that a large portion of people are b.s.ing and making it up as they go. Being aware of that truth helps me keep things in perspective.

Relationships. Relationships can sometimes get you farther than any skill can. Who you know is just as important if not more so than what you know.

Being able to trust in God and go for it and know he has my back so lets just see what happens. Knowing that makes me fearless and bulletproof.

For people earlier in their journey than I am I say just take that leap of faith and trust God to do the rest. You just have to start doing it. You’ll learn on the way. Network with everyone and be nice on the way up.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
We are always looking for interesting people with interesting stories to bring closer to the fans. Collaborating on documentary filmmaking is one of the most unique ways to intimately tell a story.
