Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joshua White. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Joshua, so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
For me taking risk is the only option, no risk no reward. I feel if you want to change your circumstances you have to bet on yourself. When you bet on yourself you’re taking major risk. Understanding that no one is coming to save you and that the ball is in your court. That responsibility is yours to take imperfect action everyday. Always remind yourself that so many people are depending on you. Taking risks becomes easy. I think about my family and the generations to come, it’s way bigger than me and I understand that.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a Real Estate Investor with my primary focus on wholesaling. I connect homeowners that are interested in selling their properties with buyers that are looking for an investment property. I speak with homeowners, buyers, agents and other wholesalers every single day. There are so many problems out there that you can help people with and networking is key. I feel that marketing is the number tool in business. If no one knows who you are or what you do, how can you help and serve them.
Next year will be the tenth year since the start of my real estate journey(2016). I met my fiance in 2018 and we have been a two person team ever since. We failed forwarded, never gave up and made our first dollar in real estate in 2021.We were still working traditional jobs and closing deals to make ends meet. In November of this year it would be a full year of us 100 percent just working on real estate. We are working on scaling and really growing the business. Real Estate is truly life changing and with God everything is possible.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
-1st would be Faith. God showed me the vision and I always believed. Times were so hard and I had to keep my faith. I’ve heard this saying that changed my life: “say thank you in advance for what is already yours”!
-2nd would be Marketing. No one would know who we are or what service we provide if we didn’t market. Market every single day.
-3rd would be Persistence. Failing forward and never giving up. Every NO you receive you’re one step closer to that YES that you’re looking for, remember that.
These are my Big 3. With a good business model and these qualities\skills you can make it in business. Specifically with wholesaling real estate it’s a simple concept but it isn’t easy. It will work if you are willing to.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
I would say my biggest area of growth\improvement is my mindset and how I look at life. It wouldn’t be over the last 12 months but more like the last 10 years. Traditionally the mindset is go to school get a job and retire after 40 years. Once I learned about generational wealth, passive income, assets, creative financing and appreciation my whole mindset changed. Thinking how can I stop trading my time for dollars. How can I build wealth to pass it down for generations after me to help my family? I had to stop wasting time on things that wasn’t beneficial. Sacrificing today for my family tomorrow . I don’t want my son, grand kids or even great grand kids to have the same struggles as me to overcome. By passing down wealth with the correct financial literacy can help my family tree for hundreds of years. That’s how my mindset has grown and shifted over the last 10 years.
