Meet Josiah Dake

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Josiah Dake. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Josiah, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from my relationship with Jesus. As a Christian artist, there are plenty of moments where I could feel discouraged — whether it’s comparing myself to others in the music industry or facing the challenges of building a career from the ground up. But I’ve learned that my identity isn’t in my success or how I measure up — it’s in Christ.

I think of 2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” That verse reminds me that God often works the most in the places where I feel the least confident.

As someone who writes faith-filled music in a folk and Appalachian style, I want everything I create to point people to biblical truth — and that calling gives me purpose. Even when it’s tough, I’ve found strength in daily spiritual disciplines, staying rooted in the Word, and trusting that God is the one opening doors in His timing. I’m just called to stay faithful.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m Josiah Dake, a 25-year-old Christian singer-songwriter creating music that blends folk and Appalachian influences with lyrics rooted in biblical truth. I grew up playing piano and guitar and started leading worship in church throughout high school. I have always enjoyed music, but in the past year I have started to take it more seriously pursuing music not just as a passion, but as a career.

What makes my music unique is the way it communicates the gospel in a raw, story-driven way. My songs don’t always sound like typical worship music — they’re often quieter, and more reflective — but they’re grounded in Scripture. I want to write songs that encourage believers, invite seekers, and ultimately glorify God.

Recently, I released a new single called “Beautiful Child”, available on all platforms. The song speaks to the truth that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and encourages us to hold on and stay strong through life’s trials. It’s a reminder of God’s love and design in the midst of hardship, a message I think many need to hear right now.

I work with an incredibly gifted producer based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, we collaborate mostly online, and he’s been instrumental in helping shape the sound of my recordings. We’re currently working on some new songs that I’m really excited to release in the near future.

Day to day, I stay focused on the craft, practicing, writing, working on vocals, connecting with other Christian artists, and staying active on social media to share what I’m creating. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that consistency and community matter just as much as creativity.

At the heart of everything I do is a desire to point people to Jesus. Whether it’s through a lyric, a melody, or a quiet moment in a song, I hope that people will encounter the truth and beauty of the gospel.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back on my journey so far, I’d say the three most impactful areas have been: discipline, humility, and community.

Discipline has been huge, both musically and spiritually. As an artist, discipline means showing up daily: practicing my instrument, warming up my voice, writing even when I don’t feel inspired, and consistently posting content on social media. It also means staying grounded in God’s Word and prayer. Creativity flows better when it’s anchored in discipline. For anyone starting out, I’d encourage you to build routines that help you grow, and surround yourself with a supportive community of others that are doing the same thing as you are.

Humility is essential in the music world, especially as a Christian. It’s easy to fall into comparison or chase approval. But I’ve learned that success isn’t found in being better than others — it’s about being faithful with what God’s given you. Let your identity come from Him, not from numbers or applause. Be teachable, ask for feedback, and never stop learning.

Community is such a large part of it. In the last year, I’ve connected with many Christian singer-songwriters through co-writes, songwriter showcases, and social media. Those relationships have encouraged me, challenged me, and reminded me that we’re not meant to walk this journey alone. If you’re just starting out, don’t isolate yourself — reach out, collaborate, and find others who share your heart and values.

No matter what stage you’re in, remember this: your calling is not to be famous — it’s to be faithful. God will take care of the doors. You just keep showing up with an open heart and a willingness to serve Him through your gifts.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, I’m definitely open to collaborating and building new connections, especially with other Christian artists, writers, and musicians who are passionate about creating music that points people to Jesus. I love working with others who value biblical truth, creative authenticity, and who are willing to write songs that go deeper than the surface level.

Whether it’s co-writing, recording, or simply encouraging each other in the process, I’ve found that collaboration often brings out the best in both the music and the mission. I’m especially drawn to working with people who are rooted in their faith and aren’t afraid to explore real, raw, honest themes and lyrics in their songwriting.

If you’re a producer, songwriter, instrumentalist, or creative who feels aligned with that kind of vision, I’d love to connect. The best way to reach me is through Instagram — you can find me at @josiahdakemusic. I’d love to hear your work, your heart, and see if it’s a fit to create something together.
