We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Josueños. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Josueños below.
Josueños, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
To me creativity has always been like a river.
Our overall flow of creativity comes from our daily flow of activities, thoughts, and interests.
Things like traveling, going out in nature, even having a spontaneous adventure can all be means of adding to your stream of overall consciousness which gives your creativity more to pull from and work with. So whenever I feel as tho I’m blocked or creatively Stuck, it’s typically a sign I need to increase the flow of experience and interactions with the world around me to either draw from or grow my overall capacity with indefinitely.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
If you took a huge caldero and added jazz, rnb, bossa, salsa, hip hop, house, video game / anime soundtracks and faith, you’d find my sound in that recipe. While all artist change over times most have their core sound or signature they almost never escape. I feel like the name Josueños embodies all of those things. What started as a play on words and joke with my name and the word sueños (Spanish for dreams), turned into the perfect translation for who I am and how I sound, my personal flavor. My music can be fun, you can bounce to some songs, go for drives to some, and some are for relaxing or winding down on a chill evening. I can say I believe I have at least 1 song for everyone. Between personal preference for smooth chords paired with lush harmonies and palpable emotions, theres a consistent “dreamy” essence to the music.
Exploring and expressing myself has had so many chapters and stages, but despite them all, when you look back on your art ,be it for yourself or for the masses, it tells a story, reveals truths, and helps reveal the artist you are. This is both exciting and scary for artist.
I’ve had times where I wanted to hide and times where I wanted to shine my brightest. The biggest thing I’ve learned is to simply stay present and as often as you can, write. Knowing how to get your thoughts on paper opens the world to releasing thoughts by other creative means. This helps understand the depth of your creative river. Sometimes you can sing or write on a topic numbers of different times by simply studying and analyzing it in more depth and from different perspectives. Music is no exception.
With more music at hand than I’ve ever had, I’m now working on rollouts and releasing music projects as this year closes and next year begins. I have a single dropping this month called “LIME” leading into an EP early 2026 with more singles and another full project coming between summer-fall 2026!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The 3 most impactful things to my journey have undoubtedly been faith in God, Journaling, and fitness.
Faith could sound self explanatory but I don’t mind opening up the topic. While my entire life hasn’t been crystal clear or easy, I’ve always known I have safety in the Love of God. Regardless of what the world around me was facing, I’ve always been able to find peace and rest in knowing at the end of the day “the creator of the universe still sees me, loves me, and has a plan for me” I’ve found it almost impossible to feel defeated with this in mind. So my faith in God who is also Love has always kept me grounded as love at is purest is ALWAYS safe.
Journaling is one of the most boring things you can tell someone to do, and 99% of the time you’re going to get pushback or “that doesn’t work for me” but when we actually journal in consistency our mind begins to unroll and stretch out in ways we didn’t know. We find problems to things we would’ve previously looked outwards for. One of God’s greatest gifts to us was a sound mind, but if we aren’t intentional about exercising mentally, we often leave ourself open to issues and struggles we can more easily avoid when we simply slow life down and tap in with ourselves.
Fitness for me has built mental fortitude for approaching difficult things and task. The same discipline applied to make yourself workout is often the same discipline your applying when you don’t want to record or don’t feel like writing or performing. Art is creative expression, but often times, be you a (perceived) artist or not, you’ll need discipline. For me, not simply going to the gym, but starting my day there following prayer and journaling starts my day off right every single time.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The artist’s way by Julia Cameron. I started this book right before going through the hardest point in my life and praise God because it was at the right time. The book helps explore that every human has artistic ability because we’re all creative by way of simply having emotions we express. What rung out to me was how the book elaborates on how when we face “artist’s blocks” or we simply find ourselves unable to create, it is more so an emotional blockage than it is that we lack the ability to create or be artistic. I feel like whether someone identities with the title of “artist” or not, the book is so efficient in helping expand and express our full range of emotions. I feel like that insight could help anyone and at a time with strong emotional highs and lows, it 100% helped me, not just creatively but overall.
