Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jovanna Tosello. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jovanna, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
My self-esteem comes from both accepting and embracing my individuality. Growing up neuroatypical meant that being ‘like everyone else’ didn’t come naturally—I was built different. Over time, I’ve learned to fully accept and celebrate my uniqueness. Letting go of the pressure and impossibility of trying to fit into someone else’s mold has freed me to be more confident and, ultimately, happier.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a New York-based creative director and people manager who works with brands to craft high-impact campaigns for a global audience. My approach is equal parts creative and as it is strategic. Creative direction is often informed by its understanding of business needs and objectives. Along with overseeing projects, my day to day involves managing a multidisciplinary creative team across copy, design, and video.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The creative industry is always evolving, and adaptability has been one of the most essential qualities in my journey. From mastering new technical skills to learning new software, it’s being open to change that has helped me find success in my career.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
I’d recommend The First 90 Days because it provides a clear framework for navigating the complexities of the corporate world. It helped me see the ‘chess board’ of the workplace and understand that being good at your craft isn’t always enough—you also have to learn how to play the game strategically.
