We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jovoni Serrano a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jovoni with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My development of strong work ethics can be attributed to the structured environment and discipline of dance, particularly through the guidance of my ballet teachers who instilled in me an unwavering determination to pursue my passions and dreams.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Jovoni Serrano is a fashion stylist and content creator for the Las Vegas community also known as “Styled by Jojo.” Being a New York native she moved to Las Vegas in 2020. Her brand consists of fashion, lifestyle, and fitness. Known for her bold, form fitting ensembles, that dominate her Instagram and Tik Tok social media pages.
Using fashion and style as a form of empowerment, Jovoni has been successful with over 10 years of advanced fashion styling and visual merchandising experience. Bringing a proven track record of elevating brand presence and enhancing her followers experiences all while feeling fabulous and confident in each total look.
Additionally, she has contributed to a memorable billboard ad for Proper Eats at The Aria Resort and Casino. Being invited to LA Fashion Week for Spring & Summer 2025 Collection. Brand Ambassador and Influencer Partnership for Pepsi Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.. Most notably, being featured in the Las Vegas Modern Luxury Magazine for the “10 Las Vegas Influencers to Follow for Style Inspiration.”
She has demonstrated through her work the power that fashion has to inspire confidence, self-love and self acceptance. While staying fit at the gym, and keeping the Vegas community up to date with the newest attractions that make the city so unique from the rest.
Looking forward to expanding her brand towards the upcoming new year. Her dream is building a clientele and focusing on becoming a celebrity fashion stylist.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Creativity is part of the tool in my profession. To keep the spirit alive being around young minded people embraces that skill. Also being a part of the fashion industry there’s always a new trend and idea where I’m consistently doing my research. Being selective of my circle of influence. Choosing like minded people in my crowd and being a leader and not a follower.
In order to be successful you have to be a risk taker. You can’t be afraid of failing. Dive in. Failure is a good thing because you learn from your mistakes. Keep moving forward, learn to take critiques, and make improvements or else you will plateau.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
Growing up, my parents encouraged my siblings and me to explore various activities, including dance, sports, acting lessons, and art classes, which helped develop valuable skills I still utilize today. My mother and fathers support and advice has been invaluable, and I am deeply grateful for both of their guidance.
