Meet Joy Naughton

We recently connected with Joy Naughton and have shared our conversation below.

Joy, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I consistently find ways to alchemize my emotions. When I feel something, I ask myself, what would this look like outside of my body? Sometimes it looks like scribbling, crumbling paper, dancing, etc. It reminds me that I always have access to my creativity.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
In 2018, I embarked on a journey to become a certified Integrative Health Coach. This decision was based on my personal experience with anxiety and depression, and my search for a holistic approach to healing. I believe that Western medicine has its place in healthcare, but I also believe that a more comprehensive and preventive approach is needed. My passion for educating and elevating the well-being of my community drives me to work towards transforming our healthcare systems. I envision a future where holistic and preventive care is prioritized, and the importance of mental and physical health is recognized and valued.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three things that were most impactful on my journey have been breathwork, self-compassion, and an understanding of how energy works. The things that seem minute, often have the biggest impacts on your holistic healing journey.

How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client suffers from mental health issues but is open-minded, and wants to invest time, money, and effort, in becoming their healthiest and best selves. We’ve been taught a top-to-bottom approach to healing, my ideal client is willing to take an inside-out approach by changing their mindsets and lifestyles for sustainable and healthy life changes.
