Meet Ju Kim

We recently connected with Ju Kim and have shared our conversation below.

Ju, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

For me, creativity is rooted in exploration, seeking out new experiences, movement patterns, and perspectives that spark both mind and body. I’m a big believer in stimulating neurogenesis through novelty, whether that’s learning a new skill, trying a different form of movement, or exposing myself to unfamiliar ideas.

Growing up between two cultures ingrained in me the understanding that there are endless ways to approach anything. That mindset naturally spills into how I work in movement, health, and fitness, where I love blending creativity with physicality.

I’ve explored a variety of hobbies that tap into different parts of my learning system, and each one has shaped the way I think and create. In today’s interconnected world, I see social media not as a source of noise but as a tool, a way to learn from countless minds and perspectives around the globe.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’ve always been deeply connected to health, wellness, and fitness. Professionally, I’m an athletic trainer who works with active populations to help prevent and treat injuries. At my core, my mission is simple: help people feel better in their bodies so they can live the life they want. Outside of my main role, I provide personal training, lead fitness classes, and share my hiking and climbing adventures to inspire and connect with others.

Right now, I’m focused on showing people that health and fitness is so much more than the traditional routes we often picture, like the “gym bro” or the dedicated yogi. Both have value, but staying locked into a single approach can limit growth. My goal is to offer a fresh perspective that blends multiple disciplines to create a more complete approach to movement and well-being.

Through my own journey in lifting, yoga, dance, climbing, hiking, Animal Flow, skating, and more, I’ve learned that every practice offers unique benefits that can strengthen and enhance the others. Climbing mountains is a perfect metaphor: there is always more than one path to the top. The same is true in health, fitness, and life. My work is about helping people see those alternative paths and empowering them to take the one that excites them most.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

For me, the three qualities that have shaped my journey the most are humility, curiosity, and authenticity. Staying humble keeps you open to growth. When you are humble, you naturally become a sponge, absorbing knowledge from every person and experience. From there, you can filter what resonates with you and use it to build the most authentic version of yourself.

Many say love is the highest vibrational frequency, but I believe authenticity is what truly transcends is living in complete alignment with who you are.

For anyone at the start of any journey, my advice is to let go of ego. Learn from everyone, regardless of titles, credentials, or background. Be willing to explore different perspectives, challenge your own assumptions, and do the deep internal work to connect the dots within yourself. That’s how you uncover your truest self and create a life that’s genuinely your own.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The greatest gift my parents gave me was life itself. I often hear people say they wish they had never been born because of the hardships they have faced, but I believe you become what you think about. Thoughts shape words, words shape actions, actions shape habits, and habits shape the life you live.

If you can frame your experiences, good or bad, through the lens of gratitude and as lessons from a loving teacher, your perspective can transform. Life is hard and people can hurt you deeply, but instead of staying in those dark places, I choose to shift my mindset toward healing and growth. Every painful experience can become a teacher. That shift has been one of the most impactful practices in my life, allowing me to keep expanding and moving forward.
