We recently connected with Juanita Perez-adelman and have shared our conversation below.
Juanita, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
The practice of yoga and insight Vipassana meditation keeps me centered and focussed in what is important in my life in the present moment.
Both disciplines keep me strong and resilient.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a multicultural visual artist.
I was born in Colombia, and I am a USA citizen with art studios in Carlsbad,CA , and Tepoztlan, Mexico.
In my images I intend to transcend cultural boundaries by connecting lines and weaving diversity using symbols and visual language.
Art can foster cultural dialogues and understanding.
Borders exist in peoples minds and hearts.
It takes courage to cross a border into a new space.
Crossing borders have resulted in opening my mind to new people and to new experieneces.
Art is a meaningful way of connecting cultures.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As a professional artist’ passion, determination and discipline and working full time every day have been the qualities that have been essential to my success.
Reading about art, going to museums and galleries and connecting with other artists are also important.
Some advice that I can give: Take risks. Be your own person .Look for spaces that resonate with your images to exhibit your work.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents {an architect and a concert pianist} encouraged my artistic path by giving me freedom of expression, materialas and space to work on art gowing up and supported me emotionaly during my 5 years of undergraduate and graduate studies in fine arts.
