Meet Judy Goldie

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Judy Goldie a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Judy , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

We all play an important role in this world, now matter what we have chosen to do for work. I have told many of my staff through the years, it matters very little what you do, but who you are. We have a chose to each day to make a differance and be the light.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

We have owned and operated small business in Rutherford county for 37 years! We just hit that anniversary date on August 1, 2025! We have been in historic downtown Murfreesbor for 15 of those years. We have two womans boutiques, Trendy Pieces and Bella’s Boutique and my partner Melanie Davenport and team run our two home and gift stores, The Marketplace home and gift and The Backroom. Trendy Pieces, Bella’s Boutique and The Marketplace are all on the square on Church Street. Once you are inside one of the stores, they are all open to one another so you can go from store to store. The Backroom in on Vine street just 3 blocks from the other stores. Being located in historic downtown Murfreesboro creates the atmosphere we love. Our building are the oldest buildings in downtown Murfreesboro, build in 1810! We hand select every piece we sell in all 4 of our stores. Each of them have their own special feel and items we sell. We have worked hard to offer amazing brands such as E newton, Kendra Scott, Kut from the cloth, Lysse, Bedstu, Hobo.. just to name a few. The Marketplace and The Backroom are know for the one of a kind vintage furniture pieces, lighting, art, jelly cats and more. We are open early of Saturdays as we participate in the very popular farmers market located by the court house every Saturday from 8-12. We feel our histroric downtown Murfreesboro is the heart beat of our city and we are thrilled to be part of it

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The best advice I can give is no matter what you chose to do… chose something you love! Passion is the key to success.

Connect with your team and your customers. Building relationships is number one. Go the extra mile for people.

Surround yourself with people that also have your vision. You are only as good as the people you surround yourself with. We have many members that have worked with us for years! Erin Christian has been with us for 28 years and Lindsay Garlit for 24 years. Meredith McDowell started with us when she was a teenager and after getting married and starting her family, she currently has been with us for 10 years. Longivity from some of our teammates is one of the things we are most proud of as a small business owener.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

We need to live life to the fullest each day. None of us know how many days we have left on this earth. T0 live in moment is the key to happiness. We spend too much time worrying about what is ahead. Regardless of how many more years I am on this planet I hope to continue to love people, be the light and find the balance. It is important to find the places that recharge you and recharge often. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Every day is precious and each day is a gift. In all stages of life I have learned living in faith, trusting proof unseen, is the way to hold on to peace. Go outside and have some fun!
