We were lucky to catch up with Juli Blount recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Juli, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I grew up with a father who ran his father’s direct mailing company for over 40 years. He lived and breathed work, and it was easy as a child to miss the simple, everyday routines that could’ve involved him. Fast forward 30 years when I began working for the company myself, I was able to see first hand just how dedicated he was. He did it all- from repairing downed machines, paperwork, running machines, managing 30-50 employees, and picking up any slack that others left behind. I watched him show up every single day, no matter the circumstances, to get the job done. I saw him pour everything he had into the production (and success) of the business, but it also made me question whether there was ever a true return for him once it was all said and done. That reflection really shaped how I approach my own path. I wanted to emulate that same dedication and work ethic, just with a deeper sense of balance.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
During Covid, our family business closed its doors after 40 years, and my 10 year chapter there came to a close. The safety net and contentment was no longer there, and I was forced into the unknown. In the midst of my worry and grief, I stumbled across another small business looking for everything I had to offer, and it was truly love at first interview! I still get emotional thinking of how perfectly our paths crossed. It’s a beautiful reminder that even in seasons of loss or change, there’s always a greater alignment happening behind the scenes, and often better than we could have imagined for ourselves.
While my professional career has primarily involved the more mundane, behind-the-scenes tasks required to operate a business, the creative in me has always been patiently waiting for its moment. Between managing a full-time career, a family, and everyday responsibilities, I just wasn’t able to hone in on what felt right in my soul.
That is until one day, when a typical gemstone shopping date with my sister Roxanne turned into the “aha” moment I had been waiting for. Surrounded by the natural beauty and energy of the stones, everything seemed to align. The creativity, the connection, the purpose. And that was the spark that became Rox + Jules.
With The Collection officially launching October 27, Rox + Jules offers curated gemstones and bespoke artistry intended to inspire, elevate, and connect you to something greater.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Resilience has carried me through the inevitable ups, downs, and twists of life. It’s taught me that we are so much more capable than we give ourselves credit for. The inherent drive to just keep pushing through and seeing the progress is so rewarding. It may not happen fast, but consistency creates momentum.
Curiosity- it keeps the process exciting, and it is what led me to explore gemstones in the first place. Aside from their obvious physical beauty, gemstones carry energies and meanings independent of themselves. Staying curious allows for a natural desire to learn more and for creativity to evolve.
Intuition- that inner nudge we so often ignore has been my compass along this journey. As people, we’re so focused on what needs to be done, we don’t always pay attention to what feels right. Rox + Jules was born out of a feeling that couldn’t be ignored, and trusting that voice even when the path isn’t clear has helped shape every part of this journey.
For anyone early in their journey, I would say:
Nurture resilience by embracing small wins and learning from challenges.
Feed your curiosity through research and exploration, surrounding yourself with people who inspire and elevate you.
And most importantly, listen to your intuition. It’s the quiet guide that knows the way before logic even has the time to catch up.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My biggest area of growth over the past year has been learning to make intentional space for myself- physically, mentally, and creatively. Like so many, I’ve poured my energy into work and responsibilities often leaving my health and well-being on the back burner. I was managing until two years ago, when I was in a car accident that injured my back just days before laying my 17 year old soul-dog to rest. The physical pain intertwined with the emotional pain and grief was too much to bear, and about a year into my suffering something had to give. I began seeing a chiropractor and stretching my body through yoga. I started prioritizing meditations, something I already knew worked for me but so easily fell to the bottom of my to-do list. I discovered a newfound joy in gardening, and that connection with Earth brought more healing than I could’ve imagined. I always believed peace would be found in perfection, but I have learned peace is actually found in the process. This shift in thinking, for so many aspects in my life, has allowed me to be present and truly enjoy the moments and progress along the way.
