We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Julia Connor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Julia below.
Hi Julia, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I definitely get my work ethic from my mom. Growing up, I watched her juggle countless responsibilities with grace, determination, and a ‘get-it-done’ mindset. She taught me the importance of showing up, staying committed, and always giving your best — no matter the challenges. Her example continues to inspire me every day in my work.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the owner of a pelvic health and orthopedic physical therapy practice, where we help women navigate some of the most transformative and challenging stages of life — pregnancy, postpartum, and perimenopause. Our mission is to empower women to feel strong, confident, and pain-free in their bodies through compassionate, evidence-based care.
What I find most exciting and special about our work is the ability to provide life-changing results. Whether it’s helping a new mom regain her core strength and resolve pelvic pain or guiding a perimenopausal woman to manage bladder issues and maintain her active lifestyle, seeing those transformations is incredibly rewarding.
We’re also expanding our services to include more community-based workshops and education events, focusing on breaking down the stigma around pelvic health and making this important information more accessible. It’s an exciting time for us as we continue to grow and make a positive impact in women’s lives.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been compassion, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
1️⃣ Compassion: In healthcare, truly listening and understanding your patients’ experiences makes all the difference. When women feel heard and supported, their healing process is so much more effective. My advice? Practice active listening and approach every interaction with empathy.
2️⃣ Adaptability: Every patient is unique, and no two journeys are the same. Being flexible and willing to adjust treatment approaches has been key to delivering the best outcomes. For those starting out, stay curious and open to new methods and perspectives.
3️⃣ Lifelong learning: The field of physical therapy is constantly evolving. Staying up to date with the latest research has allowed me to provide the highest level of care. I encourage newcomers to invest time in continuing education and networking with peers to stay inspired and informed.
Trust the process, stay passionate, and never underestimate the power of empathy in building strong connections and achieving meaningful results.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, the first thing I do is pause and take a few deep breaths to reset my mind. From there, I prioritize what’s truly urgent versus what can wait. Breaking big tasks into smaller, more manageable steps always helps.
Movement is also a huge part of my strategy — even a short walk or some light stretching can make a difference in clearing my head and reducing stress. I remind myself that I can’t pour from an empty cup, so I make self-care non-negotiable.
My advice? Give yourself permission to step back and regroup. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or delegate when possible. And remember — progress, not perfection, is the goal.
