Meet Julian Brown

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Julian Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Julian, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience has been with my since birth. It was always instilled in me by my family to never be a quitter. I remember joining my karate class, and on the first day having over 20 classmates. By the time I went up for my black belt test 5 years later, I was the only one left. Resilience truly comes from proper mindset. If you know you want something, you go out and get it. Obstacles and hard times are to be expected, just as good times are.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Julian Brown and I am an innovator of Microwave Pyrolysis; a process that turns plastic waste into fuel. I have dedicated the last 5 years of my life, starting in high school to this journey. My only background is in welding, I am certified in Stick, Mig, and Tig welding. I begun this journey because I saw a huge lack in the industry of all things recycling. We are told recycling is occurring, yet any observance to our natural world would show otherwise. Continuing to ask questions, I learned plastic is made of petroleum, and can be recycled into useable fuels. It was a no brainer to me at that point.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Though being able to weld played a major role in my construction of all my Microwave Pyrolysis Reactors, I only attribute the internal perspectives to my success. Karate taught me self control and discipline. It is so important to speak to yourself internally with proper concordance. Eliminating words like “I can’t” or “I give up” from your vocabulary propels your soul power and perseverance. Having the discipline to work through tough times, but also to take a break for the balance of your life is also major. The last major skill I have applied has been self belief. Since I was 5 years old, I believed I would do something to change the world, and I never let go of that belief; even when it made no sense to gaze so far into the future.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

The number one obstacle I have always faced has been proper funding to my plastic to fuel mission. I simply refuse to go down the traditional venture capital investment route. I believe this technology has major implications for all of humanity, only in the right hands. Diluting much of my ownership and equity early on just for the idea of a smoother path to monetary goals never ser right with me. I believe I can utilize the power of the internet, the power of democracy, and the power of perseverance to garner all funds I need. I have continued to search for and apply to grants. I am always looking for ways to expand my reach. I have just launched JABAROMA, an all natural products brand.
