Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Julian Chavez . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Julian , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my uncle Duke, he’s been a hard worker and shows up day in and day out no matter the situation he’s always there. He’s shown me what it’s like to be driven, disciplined and hard working. He has always been there for me and anytime I feel like I’m doing bad or not good I’m able to go to him for advice, he’s one of the hardest working men I know and has shown me that disciplined hard work ethic.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Julian Chavez and I grew up in a small town in Arizona called Winslow. I am a case manager for the youth out of Holbrook Arizona and do art on the side as a hobby. Art has always been something I have been interested in and have enjoyed since I was young, a lot of my family are artist and I love it! I do a lot of sketching and digital work, I have been working on a clothing brand at the moment and it’s almost ready to be started, the brand will be called WeWorkClothing.Co and at the moment I am working on designs for Tshirts, stickers, etc. the brand is designed for people who show up and work hard, it’s for people who get up in the morning and show up even when they don’t want to, for people who put in the work day in and day out. I’m always inspired by others and I felt this is a way I could show that!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The biggest quality I would say is patience, being patient and getting good at your craft. The areas of knowledge I would say is learning as much as you can, there’s always room for knowledge and growth. The last quality is positivity, you’ll have days where it seems like nothing is going your way, where you get a block, you just have to stay positive and work through it!
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I have two people who have been a a huge help to me, the first is my uncle Jason, he’s an artist himself and he has helped me in more ways then I could explain! He doesn’t sugar coat it when the project looks sketchy or not good, he lets me know and tells me how it is which is huge to me. I’ll never get better without honest feedback! The next is my girlfriend Brooke, she actually brought me back into the art scene, I had stopped my artwork awhile back and told myself that I’d never do it again, she had seen some of my work and motivated me to start trying it again. Without her this interview wouldn’t be happening right now !
