Meet Juliana Gallas

We recently connected with Juliana Gallas and have shared our conversation below.

Juliana , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Honestly, my resilience comes from my journey as a Latina woman. I immigrated from a tough country six years ago with just one ticket and $400 in my pocket. It was all or nothing for me. I had to make it work and stay positive while chasing my goals. Living in survival mode definitely isn’t easy, but it taught me how to tackle challenges head -on and always find a way through. Every obstacle has build who I am today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My life has always encompassed art; my passion for drawing ,painting and producing zines began from childhood. I became involved with the tattoo world from an early age, growing within the industry and absorbing knowledge from each artist I worked with. I had since become a seasoned tattoo artist with 18 years of international experience and awards. I have my own studio in NYC and it’s always such a pleasure to connect with so many amazing people who trust me to leave a lasting mark on their skin. My focus clients are women, queer folks, and anyone looking for a personal, meaningful experience in a safe, welcoming, and professional space. Every session is special because it’s about creating something unique that resonates with their story.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think three super important skills for anyone starting their journey are patience, discipline, and kindness. Patience because everything is a process, and we have to trust that process even when it gets tough. Discipline is key—when you’re on your own path, you’ve got to stay focused on your goals and prioritize the sacrifices you’ve made for yourself. And lastly, kindness. I truly believe you should try to be the person you needed at some point in your life for someone else. Without kindness and empathy, it’s hard to navigate today’s world.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

My number one challenge right now is definitely the changes in the tattoo industry since I started. Back then, the focus was mainly on being a great artist, but now it feels like we also need to be media managers, photographers, and PR experts all at once. It can definitely be overwhelming! I try to stay informed and adapt to what’s happening in my area because keeping up with those changes is so important for staying visible and connected.
