We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Juliana Ruggiero a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Juliana, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
This is a great starting question. Before i begin though, i want to say thnk you to everyone here at Bold Journey for having me back again, it’s a true honor!
I found my purpose in May of 2022. About a year and half prior to me gettinto the profession of being a Best-Selling Author, as well as an International/Motovational speaker, I tragically and unexpectedly lost my dad at 19 and a half years old. His death broke me, devestated me and regressed me back into a hild. I spent those next three and a half years wondering if i would ever come back from such a loss. When he left this earth on January 1, 2019, i thought my life was over and I had no purpose in the world- My dad was one of my bigest supporters and cheerleaders. When he died a huge part of me as well as all of my potental in writing/ being an online author (at the time) died as well.
However, that chaged in May of 2022, when i found an ad on Facebook that was looking for authors for a book called “Girl, Don’t Count Yourself Out : You are resliant, Tenachous and Faitful.” Put together by visonary Sabeina Thomas, I stared at the ad for a while, wondering if i should take the step back into writing or not.
I did finally decide to take that leap and get involve. Let me just say, it was one of the best things i could’ve done for myself. Getting involvedand the conections i have made with the pepole i’ve met is more then i could’ve imagined! It’s brought so much life, joy and a smile that I had lost for a long time, back into me. And it truly has helped me find my purpose and where my heart belongs!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Sure! I already said a lot in the panal question, but i will say that one of the most exciting and specail things about what i do, and it also always makes me smile and love what i do everyday. is when I get a compliment from our visionary of our pervious book that i was in (because she also put together a mom,’s edition that my mom was a part of) and we had to go on the intrest call for it. Our visionary told me in front of everyone in the room, “Juliana, your chapter is helping so many pepole. I keep getting inboxes from pepole telling me how much your chapter has helped them through their own greif as well as touched them and how it has inspried them.” Hearing this made me tear up, my whole year was made. Hearing things like this lets me know i’m in the right place! A lot of the time you don’t think pepole are watching you, but they are. It’s motovating and makes me want to keep going as well as keep pushing myself. These complimaants are one of the many most rewarding parts of what i do.
So, yes i do have another book coming this October. It’s called “Turning My Pain Into Purpose.” The visionary behind it is named Shana Goudine. I’m joined by 38 (my bigest collaboration so far) authors. In this book, each and everyone of us is coming together and sharing our stories of pain, how we took our pain and turned it into purpose. In this book, my chapter is called “Finding Peace and Healing: Ending A 12 Year Toxic Friendship- i don’t want to spoil anything for the readers out there, so all i will say is be on the lookout for this inspring, uplifiting and enpowering book!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Oh this is a great question as well! The three things that hav been most important for me is the following: Be patient, embrace the process and grow, even if pepole don’t like it. The last thing has proably been one of the hardest life lessons i’ve had to learn through this whole year. But letting go of the person that didn’t like me because of my sucsses (even though it was painful) and still is almost 5 months later, has made room for an even better more heathier friendship to come in.
The advice i would give those just starting is this: Start small and work your way up. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, it’s about baby steps and how much work you yourself are willing to put in to get to where you want to be! Walk away from those who always bring you down, and keep those who lifit you up and celebrate your eins (know matter how big or small) because those are your type of pepole!
Growing can be scary, but i promise it will all be worth it! Shine bright and always be who you are everyday and don’t ever change!
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most inpactful thing my did was rasie me right and teach me right from wrong, I wasn’t good with doing any type of written work when i was in school, but my dad eventually put his foot down and taught me that after your work, you can relax later. Ever since then, my work ethic has become so high abd i try to always get things done in a timley manner. I worked hard throughout my school years. And now, i bring that work ethic with me everyday as a Best-Selling Author and International/Motovational Speaker. I’m thankful everyday that that trait was instilled in me by him!
