Meet Julie Acklin

We were lucky to catch up with Julie Acklin recently and have shared our conversation below.

Julie , so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
I avoid artist block and burnout I have to take a break in-between paintings to re-establish my creativity. In between paintings I find peace and decide what I want to contribute to my next painting.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hello everyone! I am Julie Acklin, a American impressionism acrylic artist. I am a self taught artist, who found my way through tragedy. Tragedy and turned it into triumph to inspire others that their dreams can come true by perseverance and inspiration as I like to share inspiration and my techniques to develop new and upcoming artists in the community.

I spread the word of positivity and to give others hope to achieve their dreams through social media. I have created my own community through my art and have helped others achieve their dreams as well and find their artistic abilities and also learn coping skills with depression, anxiety, tragedy and other mental illnesses.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that were most impactful during my journey were learning how to cope with depression and anxiety, and self worth.

Additionally I have been able to focus on positivity through my art and goal setting as well self healing.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed visions and images of what I am feeling or emotions have to go onto a canvas immediately, I take myself to a peaceful place by walking into my own art. Rather it be a dark mood, without dark there cannot be light and I have a series of paintings that reflect that.
