Meet Julie Bryant

We were lucky to catch up with Julie Bryant recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Julie, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose during a time of personal family tragedy. My purpose started to form when I was 17 years old. I thought I knew what I wanted to do for my career, which was to go into accounting. As fate would have it, my life would change. When I was 17, my oldest brother passed away from a bizarre accident. As time passed on, I continued on my career trajectory in accounting, all the while thinking about my brother and his passing. I kept asking probing questions and trying to understand and make sense of what happened. Upon my graduation from high school, I did indeed go to college for accounting, but was becoming more and more unhappy and feeling unfulfilled. I took a leap of faith and had a talk with my college counselor and told her I wanted to be a medical assistant, at which time she told me that they had just started a new nursing program. I was so excited and making the transition to nursing was seamless and easy and I have never looked back.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a Board Certified Holistic Nurse and practice many holistic therapies to help people achieve their health and wellness goals. As a young child, the dentist that cared for me practiced biological dentistry and holistic therapies. My mom also was a big influence as well. She utilized many holistic therapies as part of her health regiment. At Soothing the Soles, I provide non-judgmental holistic care and meet the person right where they are. I love to educate, empower and provide possibilities when there seems no way. The services that are provided are reflexology, NADA ear acupuncture and cannabis medicine education and herbs and supplements. I pride myself on making holistic health care affordable for all because everyone deserves to feel and look their best. Some groups that I particularly like to provide care to are our Veterans, those that are recovering from addictions and those that are caregivers for their family and friends.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities, skill or areas of knowledge that have been impactful on my journey are 1. Having an open mind and being willing to go in the opposite direction of everyone else. 2. leading and caring with a servant leader heart. To place people first and be willing to serve. To have someone trust you to be their healer is a sacred place to be in! 3. Being willing to take a risk and go in the direction of the small voice inside.

My best advise for someone new in their journey is to find a mentor to partner with and be willing to listen, learn and apply their guidance. Find a mentor that is willing to push you beyond your comfort level and knows when to pull you back if you stray too far

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always looking for folks to collaborate with. I am looking for someone with a shared vision. Someone that provides services that are different from the ones that I practice but services that all work in conjunction with each other. I am looking for someone with a clear vision and big dreams with a servant heart and a willingness to give back to the community. If you have a servant heart and a holistic vision please contact me through my website at soothingthesoles.com or email at [email protected]
