We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Justice Long. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Justice below.
Justice, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
This is such a good question. To be honest, I use me being the only one in the room that looks like me as fuel to show up and show out. Often times, we miss out on amazing opportunities that could possibly change our lives for the better when we wait for validation or representation. Therefore, I learned early on to anchor my confidence in trusting myself. When you know your work, your voice carries weight, regardless of who else is in the room. I have also learned to see visibility as responsibility. When I am the only one in the room that looks like me, it is my responsibility not to shrink myself to make others comfortable but to show up as fully as I am. And when I do that, the room changes, not me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Sure, I am a career strategist, content creator, and mentor focused on helping women, especially college students and early-career professionals turn clarity into confidence and land careers that they are genuinely excited about. What I find most exciting about what I do is watching the lightbulb moment happen. This is when someone realizes that they don’t have to chase every opportunity or follow a one-size-fits-all path to be successful. I am passionate about breaking down career development in a way that feels accessible, honest, and empowering, especially for women navigating 9–5 life, career pivots, or post-college uncertainty. I don’t believe in hustle-for-hustle’s-sake; I believe in strategy, and alignment.
Right now, I am expanding my mentorship work for female college students and early professionals, with new courses and workshops focused on career clarity, resume revamps, and job search strategy. As of recently, I am working with colleges, and student organizations to speak with students through workshops, panels, and career development sessions.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three skills that really helped my journey and still help me to this day are self-awareness, adaptability, and consistency. Being able to understand my strengths, interests, and limits helped me stop chasing paths that looked good on paper and start building one that actually fit me. I tell my mentees this as well that sometimes you have to slow down, and get curious about yourself. Reflect often and pay attention to what energizes you versus what drains you. Clarity isn’t something that just comes to you, you actually have to develop it. Consistency is another one. I know we all have to hear ‘ be consistent’ but it’s true. Consistency is what is going to make the biggest long-term difference. Not motivation, not perfection, but consistency. For me, it’s the days where I feel unclear or when progress is slow that gives me the best results because I show up. This will take you further than any single job title ever could.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I am always looking for individuals, schools, or organizations to partner with. If there are any colleges and universities looking for workshops, panels or speaking engagements for their students, I love to come out and speak to the youth. If you are someone who shares a vision for helping women build confident, aligned careers or if you have an idea for a mutually beneficial project. I would love to hear from you. I am always excited to explore creative ways to make an impact together.
