We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Justicee Photography a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Justicee with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic is driven by a genuine passion for my craft and a commitment to excellence. From a young age, I was taught the value of hard work and dedication, lessons that I’ve carried into my photography business. The positive impact my work has on clients inspires me to constantly strive for improvement. The fulfillment I get from delivering high-quality portraits that resonate with people is what keeps me motivated
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My business, Justicee Photography, specializes in portrait photography with a focus on capturing images that have a fashion-forward, model-like aesthetic. I’m passionate about creating impactful images that resonate with people. Seeing the positive feedback from my clients not only reassures me that I’m serving them well but also drives me to continuously refine and enhance my photography skills.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, the three most impactful qualities or skills that shaped my growth were:
Resilience: The ability to push through challenges and setbacks has been crucial. Photography, like any other creative field, comes with its share of ups and downs. Resilience helped me stay focused and motivated, even when things didn’t go as planned.
Advice: Embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. Develop a mindset that sees failures as stepping stones rather than roadblocks.
Attention to Detail: Mastering the finer aspects of photography, from lighting to composition, has made a significant difference in the quality of my work. Paying attention to details ensures that each image is polished and professional.
Advice: Take the time to learn and practice the technical aspects of your craft. Never rush through your work; instead, focus on perfecting the little things that elevate your work from good to great.
Adaptability: The photography landscape is always evolving, whether it’s new technology, trends, or client expectations. Being adaptable has allowed me to stay current and meet the diverse needs of my clients.
Advice: Stay curious and open to learning. Continuously educate yourself on the latest industry trends and tools, and be willing to step out of your comfort zone to try new approaches.
For those starting out, focus on building these qualities. They will not only help you grow as a professional but also enable you to navigate the inevitable challenges that come with any creative journey.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, I’m open to partnering and collaborating with others who share a passion for creativity and excellence. I’m particularly interested in working with:
Other Photographers: Whether you specialize in different styles or have complementary skills, collaborating with fellow photographers can lead to exciting creative projects and mutual growth.
Fashion and Beauty Professionals: Models, makeup artists, stylists, and designers who have a keen eye for fashion and beauty can help create stunning, high-quality portraits that highlight their unique talents.
Creative Directors and Marketing Experts: Those with expertise in branding, marketing, or creative direction can bring a fresh perspective and help elevate the overall vision and impact of photography projects.
If you’re interested in collaborating, feel free to reach out! You can connect with me through [your preferred contact method—email, social media, website contact form, etc.]. I’m always excited to explore new opportunities and work with like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a difference through their craft.
