Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Justin Coleman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Justin, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Justin’s work ethic was instilled in him from a young age. He grew up in Cape May New Jersey where he saw his family members create business and opportunity for people.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Justin Coleman is the visionary behind Bake’N Bacon, Philadelphia’s first and only bacon-inspired food truck and restaurant. With a passion for bold flavors and high-quality ingredients, Justin has transformed his love for bacon into a thriving business that serves up gourmet bacon sandwiches, crispy fries, and indulgent comfort food.
Starting as a food truck, Bake’N Bacon quickly gained a loyal following, thanks to its thick-cut applewood smoked bacon and creative menu that puts a unique twist on classic favorites. The brand’s success led to the opening of a brick-and-mortar location in South Philadelphia, solidifying its place as a must-visit destination for food lovers in the city.
Beyond serving delicious food, Justin has built Bake’N Bacon into a community-driven brand, hosting events, supporting local businesses, and creating an unforgettable experience for customers—especially on game days, where fans can enjoy free shots for every Eagles touchdown.
Through dedication, innovation, and a love for all things bacon, Justin Coleman continues to expand the Bake’N Bacon brand, making it a standout name in Philadelphia’s food scene. He has been featured on Guy’s Grocery Games, led a panel at The Essence Festival of Culture, and has been interviewed by international radio host Patty Jackson.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Faith in God, Perseverance, Creativity

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
For me, God has been the most important part of my journey, guiding me through every challenge and shaping the skills, qualities, and mindset I needed to succeed. There have been plenty of moments where I felt stuck, unsure, or even defeated, but my faith has always been the thing that kept me going. At times when I didn’t have all the answers—or when doors kept closing—trusting in God’s plan gave me the strength to push forward. I’ve learned that success isn’t just about talent or hard work; it’s about having faith that what’s meant for me will come in His timing.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve faced tough decisions, where the logical choice didn’t feel right, and the risky one felt impossible. But every time I’ve put my trust in God and prayed for direction, I’ve found clarity. Proverbs 3:5-6 has been a constant reminder for me: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” That verse has gotten me through a lot, especially when things didn’t go as planned. I’ve come to realize that my understanding is limited, but God sees the bigger picture. The times I thought I had failed were actually moments of redirection, guiding me to something better.
Building something from the ground up isn’t easy. I’ve dealt with setbacks, financial hurdles, rejection, and moments where I wondered if it was all worth it. But I know that God doesn’t put dreams in our hearts without equipping us to chase them. There were times I questioned whether I had what it took, but I kept reminding myself that Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary.” That promise has kept me grounded, reminding me that my strength isn’t just my own—it comes from God. Even when I’ve felt exhausted, I’ve found the endurance to keep going because I know He’s walking with me.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that true success isn’t just about me—it’s about how I can use what God has given me to impact others. Whether it’s through my work, my business, or simply how I treat people, I want to reflect the same grace, humility, and love that God has shown me. It’s easy to get caught up in personal achievements, but at the end of the day, I want to build something meaningful—something that leaves a positive mark on the people around me.
Looking back, I can see how every challenge, every delay, and every struggle had a purpose. God was shaping me the whole time. I’m still growing, still learning, and still trusting that He’s leading me to something greater than I could ever imagine. No matter what comes next, I know that as long as I keep my faith in Him, I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
