We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Justin Heath. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Justin below.
Justin, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I love that you put ‘develop’ in asking the question because it has been a development, a journey, and a layered process. To answer your question, my true confidence and self-esteem blossomed when I started my spiritual awakening journey.
I will say that I always showed confidence in anything I did, but it wasn’t genuine. It was one of those situations where you fake it until you make it. Externally, I dressed, talked, and acted confidently, but internally, I was angry, insecure, and sad.
Here’s the backstory.
Being a queer, Black man growing up in America in the South was like being an alien. I never really felt like I fit in. My skin color and sexuality played a big part in me hiding who I am. I learned how to adjust to fit in and act like someone I wasn’t. I learned how to mimic other people, to change my personality to make the people around me feel comfortable, and for a while, it worked.
I went to college and started a career in IT. Things seemed okay externally, but internally, my spirit was literally screaming for something real. I was tired of faking my way through life.
After being fired from my job and fresh out of one of many toxic relationships, I finally made a choice that I could no longer continue the path I was on. I gave all my things away and booked a one-way flight to London with $300 in my pocket and no plan. Needless to say, when I got there, I realized that $300 was not going to get me far, but I made the best of it. For the first time, I sat still in another country and really looked at my life and understood that I had a lot of traumas and confusion to work through if I wanted my life to be better.
I returned to the States and began working with a spiritual advisor. I studied ancient spiritual systems alongside going through counseling and therapy to unpack some of the emotional and mental traumas I was carrying around acceptance. I, for the first time, began to look at myself from a spiritual standpoint and understand that who I truly am is beautiful, unique, and purposeful.
Throughout this process, I gained the true confidence I needed to create the life I desired, not a life based on fitting in with other people’s opinions of me.
I began my modeling and acting career, booking national and international commercial and print jobs, something I only dreamed of.
I also created my spiritual counseling business, SeeYourFreedom LLC, to inspire and guide others in seeing the truth within themselves through spiritual understanding and living a life of truth and freedom.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a spiritual counselor, model/actor, and entrepreneur. I have created my own business called SeeYourFreedom LLC, through which I offer spiritual counseling services. Additionally, I am a professional model and actor, immersed in the vibrant world of creative expression and visual storytelling. Through the lens of a camera or on the stage, I bring characters and narratives to life with authenticity and passion!
What excites me the most about my work is the opportunity to help others discover their true selves and find inner peace. I never knew I needed someone like me until I went through the process of my spiritual awakening. Through spiritual counseling, I guide individuals on a journey of self-discovery, helping them, like myself, unpack emotional and mental traumas and realize their unique beauty and purpose, ultimately bringing freedom. On the creative side, modeling and acting allow me to express myself artistically and fulfill dreams I’ve long held.
My brand, SeeYourFreedom LLC, is dedicated to inspiring and guiding others in discovering the truth within themselves and living a life of authenticity and freedom. I believe in the power of spirituality to transform the self and bring about positive change. Through my services, I aim to empower individuals to embrace their true selves and live fulfilling, vibrant lives.
At this time, I am actively working with clients and expanding my business. With the rise of individuals stepping into their true selves because of the changes in the world, so is the rise in demand for my services. I am developing a team to assist me with my business as what I have created is becoming bigger than I could have imagined.
Along with working with clients individually, I am putting together classes and international retreats to bring people together and facilitate group healing sessions.
I am also actively booking commercials. You can catch my commercials on TV, social media, and brand websites, or on my website :).
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Adaptability, Courage, and Resilience are three of the qualities that have been most impactful in my journey. These are the things that carried me to where I am today.
As I mentioned earlier, I learned how to adapt and change myself to fit in with others. At first, I thought this quality was a bad thing because I wasn’t being authentic. However, I’ve come to realize that our qualities are tools, even if they seem bad. When we learn how to use them correctly, we can use them to make the changes we desire in life. It was also adaptability that allowed me to be open enough to learn new concepts and ideas that changed my mindset, enabling me to step into a new life.
I used my courage to be brave enough to face some hard truths I didn’t want to accept and to see them with new lenses.
Last but not least, it was my resilience that kept me striving for more elevation and growth in life. The spiritual journey is not easy. You have to have a strong belief in something higher than yourself because there are times when things get really tough. But resilience will keep you in the game long enough to enjoy the manifestations you have worked so hard for.
For anyone early in their spiritual journey or looking to understand themselves on a deeper level, my advice would be:
Accept change and be open. Nothing stays the same other than the fact that everything changes. Being closed-minded will only limit the unlimited possibilities you have access to. If you knew everything, you wouldn’t desire to be better.
Trust YOUR process. Your journey is unique to you! Looking at what everyone else is doing will only take you off your own path. You can always be inspired by others, but no one can walk your journey for you. Trusting yourself gives you the courage you need to make those hard decisions that will change your life for the better.
Give yourself the space and grace you need! Life can be hard work, so you have to play hard too. It’s okay to mess up, it’s okay to not be okay, it’s okay to not know all the answers. That’s why life is a journey; you make mistakes, learn, and get better. Don’t beat up on yourself while you are learning.”
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Always, only I can walk my path, but interacting and collaborating with others is how we learn who we are and what we can do, and gain new perspectives.
I’m looking for people who are motivated by growth and the understanding of self, and who use that to help others as well as themselves. This is what spirituality is to me. It’s a deep understanding of who you are as a spirit and experiencing life while knowing who you are!
They have to be spiritual, no matter what they do in life, acknowledging their spiritual self lets me know where they are internally before I meet them.
