Meet Justin Messer

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Justin Messer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Justin Messer, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

From my parents. they taught me that if you want something out of your life, you have to work for it!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I spent 20 years working for a small local pulp mill as a heavy equipment and diesel mechanic, when the company closed down I decided to take the leap of faith and follow my dreams of opening my own Hot rod and Kustom shop.

Harbor Kustoms is a small Hot rod and Kustom shop out of Gig Harbor Washington. Specializing in kustom fabrication, chassis, suspension and one off hand built parts for your Hot rod and Kustoms, lifted or lowered trucks and classics. What motivates us? The passion for building the best Hot Rods and Kustoms under the sun! At Harbor Kustoms chopped tops are the norm along with loud in your face exhaust, add multiple carbs with lots of fuel and you’re in business.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Work ethic, integrity and determination

My advice for someone starting out. Even though I’m still early in my journey is to keep going! Sometime the right path isn’t the easiest one but it is worth it!

How would you describe your ideal client?

Ideal client would be one who believes in my vision and would let me run with my ideas on a build to complete on a big stage against the best in the industry!
