Meet Justin Omorode

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Justin Omorode. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Justin , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

Resilience, for me, has been a lifelong practice—one shaped by my journey with cerebral palsy and deepened through meditation and spirituality. Growing up in Lagos with a visible disability meant navigating a world that often tried to define me before I could define myself. Music became my refuge, a space where my mind and spirit could move freely, even when my body felt restricted.

But resilience isn’t just about pushing through—it’s about transformation. I found strength in African spiritual philosophies, in the understanding that my existence has purpose beyond the limitations placed on me. Meditation taught me to sit with my struggles, to find stillness in chaos, and to channel my experiences into art that heals not just me, but others who resonate with my music.

Resilience, for me, isn’t about pretending things are easy. It’s about embracing the depth of my existence, the weight of my journey, and turning it into something meaningful. My music reflects this—whether it’s the affirmations in Manifest Me or the ancestral echoes in Meaning. It’s all part of the process of awakening, of reclaiming power, and of manifesting the reality I believe in.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m JNino, an artist and producer blending alternative R&B with African philosophies. My music is rooted in spirituality, self-discovery, and the realities of navigating life with cerebral palsy. Meditation has been a key part of my journey, helping me channel my experiences into sound. My upcoming EP, Awoken, dropping on February 28, 2025, reflects this evolution—melding soulful melodies with introspective lyricism. Beyond the music, I aim to create a space where African wisdom and modern expression coexist, offering listeners both sonic escape and an embrace of the times. My project ties in all these concepts in a beautiful comforting sonic soundscape

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Perseverance- Being born with a disability, i have had to learn to adapt and persevere through tough obstacles. Even the smallest thing like Lagos Nigeria not being the most accessible growing up

Spirituality- I have found that certain spiritual practices like meditation keeps me grounded, and studying all and any spiritual books I can find, allows me to keep expanding.

Community- Whether it be my family or my community of artists around me keep me going and allow the journey to move forward.

Honestly, I would say find your people and your vision and build with them and have a somewhat unified vision

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

I’d say confidence in my art form and my growth! Trusting my vision and believing in my voice. I started out as a rapper, so I was afraid always to sing confidently, but I am as confident a singer these days and trusting the message being passed through me whether it be perceived as spiritual or not
