We were lucky to catch up with Justine Yarngo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Justine, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Finding my purpose didn’t happen overnight. It was a journey filled with self-discovery, patience, and a lot of trial and error. Before becoming an esthetician, I didn’t have much knowledge about skincare, nor did I care for my skin properly. My skin wasn’t at its best, and I felt incredibly insecure about my appearance, which affected my confidence. I remember looking in the mirror and feeling disconnected from the person staring back at me. In those moments of insecurity, I realized I wanted to address the issues with my breakouts.
I started experimenting with different skin products, testing what worked for me, and slowly began to see a difference—not just in my skin, but in my confidence. Along the way, someone recommended that I consider attending esthetician school because they saw my love for skin and beauty. That advice changed my life, and I decided to attend the Christine Valmy International School for Esthetics in Manhattan, NY, where I deepened my knowledge and passion for skincare. Becoming an esthetician wasn’t just a career move but a personal transformation.
As I deepened my skincare knowledge, I learned that what I had gone through was common, and I wanted to help others feel better in their own skin. The more I connected with my clients, the more I realized that my purpose was to create spaces where people could come not just to improve their skin but to embrace their worth and feel seen.
Since becoming an esthetician, it has truly changed the game for me. I now see beauty in a whole new light—not as something superficial, but as something that empowers people to live more boldly and confidently. That’s when I knew my purpose was tied to something bigger: helping others find confidence in themselves, just as I did.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
At Jus Skyn, I’m working toward creating a space where individuals can embrace their natural beauty and feel confident in their own skin. As a licensed esthetician, I’m passionate about developing personalized skincare experiences that will address the skin’s needs and the individual’s well-being. Whether it’s a simple facial or a specialized skincare treatment, my goal is for every future client to leave feeling rejuvenated, empowered, and more connected to their self-worth.
What excites me most about building this business is the opportunity to blend skincare with self-love. I’m not just focused on treating skin concerns—I’m creating an experience that allows people to feel seen, heard, and cared for. I’m especially passionate about working with those who may have struggled with insecurities like I once did because I know firsthand how transformative good skincare can be—not just for your appearance but for your self-esteem.
As I work toward opening my new Jus Skyn suite in January 2025, I’m excited to offer services like lash lifts, brow lamination, eyelash extensions, and more. I want to create a space where my clients can feel relaxed, heard, cared for, and understood. Life is filled with highs and lows, and I want Jus Skyn to be a place filled with peace, positivity, and love—a place to escape stress and boost confidence. I also love giving advice (if needed, of course) and showing love to those who may not always see it in themselves.
Down the line, I envision creating a platform or event space where young men and women can not only learn about skincare but also build self-esteem and self-love from within.
I want people to know that while Jus Skyn is still in its early stages, the journey I’m on is centered around confidence, self-empowerment, and helping others feel their best. My mission is to help individuals embrace their uniqueness and love the skin they’re in. It’s Jus Skyn!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, three essential qualities have shaped the path I’ve taken: resilience, empathy, and the pursuit of continuous learning. These qualities have been critical in starting my business and connecting with and serving my clients.
1. Resilience
Building a business, especially in an ever-evolving field like skincare, comes with its share of challenges. For me, resilience has meant pushing through not only external obstacles but also internal ones. My dad, who comes from a business background, has taught me resilience. His advice to stay focused and push through setbacks has helped me navigate business and personal hurdles. For anyone starting their own journey, I would say expect challenges. But remember, setbacks are not roadblocks; they are opportunities to grow, and resilience is what will keep you moving forward.
2. Empathy
Empathy has been one of the most vital qualities I’ve developed in my work. I understand how important it is to connect with people on a meaningful level, especially when it comes to their self-care and confidence. My own experiences have deepened my ability to relate to others who may be dealing with challenges of their own. I’ve found that approaching everything with empathy creates trust and long-lasting relationships. I advise leading with empathy in all aspects of your business—it makes all the difference.
3. Continuous Learning
The beauty industry constantly evolves, and staying on top of new techniques, trends, and innovations has been essential to my growth. Continuous learning is more than just keeping up with the industry—it’s about striving to improve and provide the best for your clients. I remain committed to growing and evolving in my craft through formal education or self-study. My advice is always to stay curious and open to learning. It’s what will keep you at the top of your field.
In essence, resilience helps you overcome challenges, empathy builds meaningful connections with those you serve, and continuous learning ensures you always grow and deliver your best. These qualities have been foundational to my journey, both personally and professionally.
