Meet Jyasi Galloway

We recently connected with Jyasi Galloway and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jyasi, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
To be quite honest, I couldn’t even tell you to be real. I just feel like it doesn’t cost anything to be kind or display love to people, more often than not people need it. I try to be a person that I’d love to meet or be a person that I know that I needed because everyone is going through a different battle. You never know how an interaction when met with kindness & generosity can turn someone’s day the right way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m often asked this, & I used to honestly be uncomfortable with regarding myself as a professional photographer. Simply because I’m such a hard critic on myself however as time passed & the work started showing differently I take pride in calling myself a creative, photography is just one extension of my mind. My focus at the moment is honestly just self discovery in whatever facet & however far that goes I hope I’m impacting people in a good light. It’s always about being original/authentic that’s what lasts forever & breaks barriers, I just hope in the midst of all of that I’ve endorsed honesty & resilience. That’s what separates good from great, & great from extraordinary.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
It doesn’t matter what you do, it’s always difficult in the beginning. Those that understand that no matter how good you think you are you can always go another level; there’s always a lesson so take pride in the early development you’ll find yourself going back to it a lot.

Be patient, this doesn’t owe you a thing. You can tell in the work how people see their process & you can tell forced/pressed work & timely/curated processes. The race isn’t against others there’s not a race at all, just fine tune who you are & what you’re doing it’ll find its way.

Show love, the shit is free. I’m big on showing love & community, there’s enough room for me & you. & if you’re dope why wouldn’t I want to share a stage with you, everyone wants to be the one not understanding it takes cogs to turn a wheel. It’s more than me & you & there’s a bigger picture allow love & community to be the foundation.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
I read pretty often, well I’m an audiobook type of guy. However I have 3-5 books that I hold close & have shaped my process but the 1 that has definitely ran laps on my mind was Charlemagne The God “Black Privilege”. I loved that piece of work because it was a text of his entire life up until that time period, it was uncensored & raw it’s as though I could feel like I’ve lived it or even gather some commonalities. Having sole security in oneself to accomplish your dreams & doing it your way is very important to me, I never went to college; I never had a real plan until recently so taking a chance on yourself to go somewhere where many can’t go on your own terms is uncanny. Be you & be you with no remorse god made only one of you, either they love it or they’ll hate it but it’s on your terms how this is about to go.
