Meet Jyl Fashion house

We were lucky to catch up with Jyl Fashion house recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jyl, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Being a new business in the fashion industry is always tough. When my partners and I met we were each on the journey of opening our own business… or so we told ourselves. I guess we feared to jump in the deep water and learning to swim alone. As a group of 3, we each have our strengths and weaknesses and we know how to keep each other’s confidence up. For example, we have our own niche – one does marketing, one deals with finances and one is the the art director. We all pitch in and help each other, give a little pep talk when needed and most importantly we are the shoulder to lean on whenever one of needs it. I can say that keeping our self esteem is tough, when you’re new and trying to get your name out there you realize how cold the world can be sometimes, but knowing our worth and keeping an inspiration board in our work space helps, it reminds us of the end goal and why we do what we’re doing.
Keeping confident is also a big deal. I guess the way to stay confident is to have true friends who remind you of who you are when you forget, people who pick you up when you’re at your lowest.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

We are the owners of a bridal salon and we wanted to bring something different to our brides, so we decided to specialize in mix & match dresses. Our unique concept gives the bride the opportunity to choose from a wide selection of beautiful corsets, skirts and trousers and assemble their dream wedding attire. Wether it’s a romantic cinderella dress or classic lace or a jaw dropping sexy low cut, we have it all. Every woman who walks into our salon will find her dream dress. Our service is also very unique. Being 3 partners, we each have our own responsibilities, so we are always available for our clients and they get a 180 treatment, from the day they walk in to our salon up until their wedding day.
We are now working on a new collection, inspired by Vogue Nights and Vogue Balls.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

One of the biggest qualities which is a huge advice as well is to learn how to listen. Listening to the people surrounding you is a way of learning and making more educated decisions. Sometimes the big enlightenment can come from an unexpected source.
Another skill is understanding your strengths and where you could use more help. Knowing how to delegate authorities and not taking every little thing under our responsibility is a big factor in success.
Willingness to learn is also a very useful quality and skill. We never know it all, even when we think we do. We can’t afford being arrogant and know-it-all, we have to always be ready to accept advice.
The greatest advice I can give anyone starting their way in the business world is to do it from real passion and because it’s what they see themselves do in their lives, not because it’s what is expected from them or because of the financial benefits. It a long and tough road until all the perks of independence take form in real life, and it’s a 24/7 job with no days off.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

The one and only book I can recommend to anyone trying to change their mindset in life and business is “the power of imagination” by Neville Goddard. He teaches and explains how to shift your awareness and subconscious into the person you want to be and how to see your environment in a way that matches your new self, the self who’s successful and stable with accomplished goals. The minute we see the world as our playground, it starts being so – and we can be whoever we want to be.
