We caught up with the brilliant and insightful J’zotta Rolle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have J’zotta with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
From a young age my family, especially the role models like my pops taught me the importance of hard work and its role to achieve great things. They did this not only by teaching but by example. These lessons were solidified through my school years as I stepped on the journey of athletics. Nothing can teach you work ethic and discipline like struggle and sports.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a former basketball and track & field champion. After school, I started my fitness trainer career by accident, but my calling was always to inspire, motivate, and help people live a better and happier life, so it aligned with me perfectly. Years into coaching and having participated in the success and joy of the hundreds of my satisfied clients, I started to share my and their journeys on social media. My marketing genius husband helped me to create Fitgirlbomb as my alias and a brand all in one, which has led to massive growth on social media in terms of reaching people and completing 100+ paid partnerships with brands from start-ups to globally recognized [Fortune 500] companies across multiple industries. This has earned me the spot to be one of the most sought-after content creator powerhouses with the most paid non-celebrity partnerships and the highest success rate in influencer marketing.
But, Fitgirlbomb is more than just the popular social media persona [of me J’zotta]. It’s a mindset
and a message to all women: You are strong and beautiful [regardless of age, size, skin color, or
orientation], and you’re meant to be great and be able to uplift your sisters. Fitgirlbomb is the
potential in every woman waiting to ascend to the surface. Fitgirlbomb is a fierce, unstoppable,
badass woman/girl fit for life defying every odds, she is not perfect but always willing to work on her fitness
in every aspect [health, financials, career, self-fulfillment, relationships, and social obligations]. She’s
in competition with nobody but herself allowing her to stand up for and support other women with
passion and when it comes to her dreams and goals, she’s explosive and blasts through every door
of opportunity and takes what’s meant for her. This is what it means to be a Fitgirlbomb and I would love to share this feeling with every woman.
By no surprise, my goal is to make Fitgirlbomb a global brand – rather than a mere pseudonym – I’m putting all my efforts into transforming this ideology into an actual physical brand – including a supplement line,
activewear, and accessories – that spreads the message and a true sense of belonging. I plan to launch my new line this year [2024] summer. It will be available on my website https://fitgirlbomb.com/ and on my TikTok Shop, Instagram Store, and Shopify (I’m still considering listing on Amazon).
Another exciting news is that my first book FlowFit: Mastering Your Workouts Through Your Cycle is now available on Amazon, and a lot more is coming including a book that teaches you the method that catapulted Fitgirlbomb into influencer stardom, another one that helps the average person breakthrough financial obstacles, a personal take on happy marriage and of course a bunch of complete fitness guides that educate the reader along with the training programs and diets to help sustain the gains.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Connection with people, consistent development, and adaptability.
1. Connection with people: I am blessed to have an energy and personality that people gravitate to, probably due to praying and letting God’s love shine through me. This is important from the perspective of networking, which is the pillar of influence, business, and social wellness.
2. Consistent development: Beating on your craft is the key to staying on top of your game, whether we talk about your profession, fitness goals, finances, or something else. Professionally that means I always try to keep up to date with studies and findings in fitness and nutrition, and by trial and error finding better and more efficient ways to achieve results. It also includes taking on new certifications and courses to expand my knowledge and keeping an open mind to feedback.
3. Adaptability: It is especially true today in our rapidly evolving, fast-paced, social media and digital technology-driven era, that you have to stay flexible and ready to change course at any given moment in career, life, and business. As we are flooded with information, you might find what you thought worked yesterday is now deemed obsolete as we keep finding better, faster more efficient ways. If you’re in business it is key for survival. In fitness, it simply means, that if you plateau you have to find new ways to keep getting the results you want or when something is not available or resources are limited be ready to find a substitution that works just as well.
Be kind and smile. When you show a friendly vibe people will start connecting with you instantly, and that will help you in many ways, like motivation, advice when you need it, or even with business/career steps. In fitness, be part of a community, it’s not just useful but super fun.
Never stop learning. But make sure you validate the source of your information first. Then it’s all about practice. Practice perfect, that’s how you get better. In fitness, don’t rush to mimic everything you see on social media, instead master the basics you already know and keep pushing your limits. Seek the knowledge of professionals.
When you face challenges, keep your mind, eyes, and ears open, and relax. You can’t be creative and find the right course of action if you stress the problem. It also helps to mitigate risks and be prepared. Again in fitness, it means having a base knowledge of exercises, knowing how to use all the different equipment, knowing the better choices when it comes to food, and having a positive attitude.
Here’s a bonus one, because I feel like a lot of people need to hear this. Close out the noise and don’t take no for an answer. If you want something put your heart into it and don’t let anybody talk you out of it, that includes your inner voice of uncertainty.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
