Meet K Brock

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful K Brock a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi K, thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout

Rest is the key to avoid burning out, especially when something you love or use as an escape becomes a chore. Personally, I enjoy taking a step back and reflecting on what I’ve already accomplished, acknowledge how much more I can do, and tell myself I deserve the time away.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My name is K Brock, I’m from Southern California and have been residing in Houston since 2020. I work closely with Extendo who has produced all of my music since 2017. He has been one of my closest friends throughout our time together and was one of the few I could call during my time incarcerated. After 2 1/2 years served, we are preparing a new project that we are very excited about. I enjoy the craft so much and am content that every time I drop a single or project it is better than my last. I’m excited for everyone to witness what’s to come after so long.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three things I’ve learned during my short time in this industry is that practice makes perfect, patience is key, and to know your worth and stand on it. I think it’s very important to develop mature values and live by them. It’s one thing to understand something, it’s entirely different to relate with it. If I had any advice for upcoming artists it’d be to take your time and never pay to play!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

While I love Extendo and his cultivated insight and masterful production with quality, in the future I’d love to collaborate at least once with some of my favorite artists and producers such as Freddie Gibbs, Conway the Machine, Method Man as well as Alchemist and Cookin Soul.
