We caught up with the brilliant and insightful K $tarr a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
K, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Actually it took a minute! I grew up a shy kid but would always come alive on a stage, i did a lot of stage plays as a kid and a lot of dance routines as i got older causing me to join a few professional dance teams. Realizing that i had a gift to entertain and growing up caring less and less about others opinions of me gave me the confidence you see today!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Well i am an army brat! I was raised partially in Killeen, Tx and finished out my teen years in Muskegon, MI. I attended Michigan State University. After college i moved to Houston, TX for a couple years then eventually landed in Atlanta, GA. I took care of my mom who had a mental disability for about 10 years until she passed in 2019. I started my acting journey in 2018, which opened the door for a podcast (The Corporate Mouth) radio shows (Hey Mikey Show, Socially Complicated, iHeart Radio) and a host of different movies, shows and commercials. During Covid, i had an opportunity to record music causing me to release my first full project “Rockstarr” (September 2020) . This really changed the game for me allowing me to be my own boss and perform all over the country. Now I’m gearing up to release my 2nd project “The Throat Factory” (scheduled for November 2024). My first single was released in April of 2024 untitled, “C*ck Goblin” followed by the video in August of 2024.
Now everyone can be prepared to get sick of me because 2025 will be an epic year! Lol

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Well first of all you have to have a “do it for yourself “ type of attitude! Being an independent artist is not as glamorous as it seems, it’s a lot of hard work and very little support.
A skill i have is the ability to entertain! In a never ending sea of artist you have to be able to stand out and keep a crowd entertained! It’s most important to me !
And one thing i have learned from my journey in music is the business!! You can have a more urban look and appearance but be professional and knowledgeable behind the scenes, it’s very important on your path!
And have fun!!!! Life is short!!

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
The most helpful and probably was my biggest cheerleader was my old manager and best friend Thee Dee Rashawn. She passed away in 2023 and music has been a bit of a struggle to do with her not being here. She was the one that helped me understand the fine print of the business and we worked very well together. But i do have a very loving tribe of friends and supporters that really have my back so i am able to push forward!
