Meet Kacey Anne

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kacey Anne. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kacey below.

Kacey , thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My generosity was instilled in me as a child. Before my mom passed when I was 16, she always found ways to giveback to our community. Sometimes when we barely were getting by ourselves. Many weekends she would take me to the park to help pass out food plates to the homeless. And during the holidays she always drove around after dinner giving out plates of our leftovers. Not to mention all the clothes and toys she donated to Casa de los Ninos throughout the years. My mom definitely inspired me to give back whenever I can, so that is why I started our non-profit The Youth Village.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Most of my time goes to giving back and being a content creator these days. Whether I am making digital graphics, custom apparel, or shooting photography for youth athletes I am always creating which I enjoy, thankfully. I also have had the pleasure of volunteering my services for youth football and other sports. Recently, I have teamed up with Sports Gear Unlimited to be able to offer custom apparel items to more individuals & teams. Which I am really excited about!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would definitely say having the want and ability to learn new things has been what has helped me the most. I have learned more since graduating college by using resources available online. Most of them free. Which is great for testing the waters of something new. Second, I would say for me, was knowing what I didn’t want in life. That motivated me any time I felt myself closer to where I knew I didn’t want to be. I was always ok with the process but never wanted to get “Stuck’ where I knew I would not be happy. And third, I always found ways to giveback to our community and youth. For me, being able to giveback brings me so much joy and makes me feel close to my mom though she has been gone for 21 years.

Just Keep Swimming! One small step a day is all it takes. And it’s ok to change your mind during the journey. Always respect and show appreciation for those that help you during the journey with no questions asked. Appreciation goes a long way.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
I would definitely say my mom was the most impactful person in my childhood, I have carried her inspirations with me for 20+ years after her passing. One of the most impactful decisions she made, was moving us to Hawaii after her divorce from my dad. I was 5. Going to school in Maui at such a young age, has instilled so many amazing qualities I would have never had living anywhere on the mainland. Hawaii taught me how to be kind to others, and treat everyone like family. The love I was shown growing up in Hawaii, can’t be matched anywhere and I miss living there for sure.
