Meet KACEY SMITH

We were lucky to catch up with KACEY SMITH recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have KACEY with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic as a phlebotomist comes from a deep sense of responsibility and dedication to patient care. With 20 years of experience in the field, I have learned that precision, compassion, and professionalism are essential in every interaction. Managing phlebotomists and leading a lab department have reinforced the importance of teamwork, efficiency, and maintaining high standards. Additionally, my commitment to service through Feather Touch Mobile Phlebotomy has further shaped my drive to provide accessible, high-quality care to every patient I encounter.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

As a seasoned phlebotomist with 20 years of experience, I specialize in providing high-quality, patient-centered care through Feather Touch Mobile Phlebotomy. My work involves offering convenient mobile phlebotomy services, ensuring accessibility for patients who may have difficulty visiting traditional lab settings. What excites me most about my profession is the ability to ease patient anxiety, provide a seamless experience, and make healthcare more accessible—especially for those in underserved communities.
Through Feather Touch Mobile Phlebotomy, my team and I are committed to delivering efficient, professional, and compassionate blood draw and lab testing services.
Currently, we are expanding our mobile services to reach even more clients, including partnerships with healthcare providers and wellness organizations. Stay tuned for upcoming wellness events and service launches designed to enhance patient care and accessibility. My goal is to continue making a meaningful impact in healthcare by blending expertise with a passion for service.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back on my journey, the three most impactful qualities and skills have been precision, adaptability, and compassionate communication.

1. Precision – In phlebotomy, accuracy is everything. A steady hand, attention to detail, and knowledge of anatomy ensure a smooth and efficient blood draw. For those just starting, I recommend practicing consistently, learning from experienced professionals, and always double-checking your work to build confidence and skill.

2. Adaptability – Healthcare is always evolving, and every patient is different. Being able to adjust to new techniques, patient needs, and industry changes has been key to my success. Newcomers should stay open to learning, embrace feedback, and continue their education through certifications and hands-on experience.

3. Compassionate Communication – Many patients are anxious about blood draws, and being able to calm their fears through empathy and clear communication makes all the difference. To develop this skill, focus on active listening, patience, and treating every patient with care and respect.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to never stop learning—whether through training, mentorship, or experience. Build strong relationships with colleagues and patients and always maintain a high standard of care. Your dedication and professionalism will set you apart and open doors for growth in your career.
