We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kacie Aversa. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kacie below.
Kacie, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I still struggle with imposter syndrome frequently. I think that’s just human nature when you’re in a creative field. For me, I challenge that inner critic and remind myself that I’m unique and there’s only one of me. That my creative vision is going to be different from someone else because every person is different. Having a great support system has definitely helped and kept me from spiraling into those imposter syndrome thoughts.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a photographer in Denver, Colorado. Growing up I was very into runway and fashion magazines so my parents bought me my first camera, which sparked my love for fashion and creative photography. Since then, I’ve expanded my portfolio and found out I also love shooting couples and elopements! I’m a fairly outgoing person so I love to be the ultimate hype girl during the photo session and make goofy jokes. I want my sessions to feel like a fun date whether it be with your partner or a solo date.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think my creativity, outgoingness, and drive to learn is what helped me kick start my journey in photography. For someone just starting out in photography my best piece of advice is to network with other photographers. It’s so helpful to learn from others in the business and you also make good friends along the way!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I love collaborating! Whether it’s with a fellow photographer, models, stylists, etc. I think that’s the most fun part of what I do, getting to meet new people and create new ideas with them. I’m always collaborating with other photographers and models and always willing to team up with new people! If that’s something you’re interested in, you can message me on instagram @photos_bykacie
