Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kacy Chambers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kacy, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Finding my purpose has been a journey shaped by challenges and successes. A pivotal moment was when both of my children were diagnosed with learning disabilities. Although the news was initially overwhelming, it gave me a sense of responsibility. I knew I had to become their advocate, not just for their education but for their self-esteem and future success.
As I navigated their diagnoses, I began learning about their needs, the educational system, and the emotional impact of their diagnoses. Through this process, I recognized there weren’t enough stories that reflected children like mine. There was a need for books about important topics that were engaging, easy to understand, and empowering. This realization sparked my desire to create what I couldn’t find. I wanted to write stories that addressed tough topics while allowing children to see themselves. I saw the need for stories that would uplift and educate.
This passion led me to become a children’s book author. I have written six children’s books and two children’s journals, each addressing important topics such as resilience, self-acceptance, and safety. What I didn’t expect was how personal this journey would become. After years of advocating for my children, I was diagnosed with a learning disability myself as an adult. That revelation reshaped my understanding of my past experiences and gave even more meaning to my work. Writing became a way to support children like mine and a form of healing and self-acceptance for me.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey has been hearing from parents, educators, and young readers who share how my books have impacted their lives. They’ve told me how my books have helped them navigate difficult conversations, understand their child’s experiences, and foster a greater sense of belonging for their children. Those moments reaffirm my purpose and fuel my commitment to creating books that educate and celebrate every child’s uniqueness.
I’ve learned finding purpose isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about embracing life’s twists and turns, remaining open to growth, and using your experiences to make a difference. My purpose continues to evolve, but at its core, it remains rooted in advocacy, compassion, and the belief that every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and empowered.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a children’s book author, publisher, and advocate for inclusion. My work revolves around creating books that address important topics that can be difficult to discuss with children. I aim to promote understanding, resilience, and self-acceptance in young readers, ensuring every child feels seen and valued.
What excites me most about my work is its impact on children, parents, educators, and caregivers. I’ve received messages from families who have used my books to have conversations about learning disabilities, self-esteem, and body safety. Knowing my books can help spark these much-needed discussions is humbling and inspiring.
Beyond writing, I’ve expanded my mission by establishing Great Books Publishing Company, a publishing company dedicated to helping aspiring authors bring their stories to life. I understand firsthand the challenges of navigating the publishing process, so I wanted to create a business that simplifies the process and empowers new voices. Whether it’s children’s books, memoirs, or other literary genres, I guide authors from idea to publication while maintaining their vision.
I plan to continue writing engaging books that incorporate crucial issues. I believe books are a powerful tool for education, healing, and connection, and I’m committed to using them to spark important conversations.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities have been particularly impactful: resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to learn. These qualities have guided me as an author/publisher while helping me navigate challenges and create meaningful books.
Resilience: Writing, publishing, and entrepreneurship all come with obstacles, such as overcoming self-doubt, handling rejection, or figuring out how to bring an idea to life. Resilience has helped me push forward even when things feel overwhelming. My advice to those starting their journey is to embrace setbacks as part of the process. Every challenge is an opportunity to grow, and persistence is key to making your vision a reality.
Adaptability: The literary and publishing industries are constantly evolving, and being open to change has been crucial for my success. Learning new marketing strategies and navigating digital publishing platforms was a must. Adaptability has allowed me to grow my brand and reach more readers. My advice is to stay curious and open-minded. Be willing to pivot when needed and embrace new tools, trends, and opportunities that align with your goals.
Willingness to Learn: When I started writing books, I had no formal background in publishing. I had to learn about writing techniques, book formatting, marketing, and distribution. Even now, I continue to educate myself and refine my skills. My advice to beginners is to never stop learning. Read books, take courses, seek mentorship, and ask questions. The more knowledge you gain, the more empowered you’ll be to bring your vision to life.
Ultimately, success is about embracing growth, staying committed to your purpose, and continuously evolving. Keep going, keep learning, and most importantly, believe in the value of your work.
