Meet Kadejsha Jones

We were lucky to catch up with Kadejsha Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kadejsha, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome first hit me after I graduated from cosmetology school. When I decided to go solo as a licensed esthetician after I graduated and step into building something of my own, doubt started to creep in. When it came time to branch out on my own, I didn’t have a mentor to guide me. Job placement was tough. I started creating content and putting myself out there, but I wasn’t seeing results right away. I started to think about choices. There was no real income and no solid relationships being built. That’s when imposter syndrome really started to take hold. I questioned whether I was truly capable of making this work.

What made it even harder was that I didn’t see many people around me doing what I was doing. Being a mobile esthetician offering luxury services was unfamiliar territory. I had my own car and my own vision, but I didn’t have a blueprint to follow. The uncertainty made me feel like maybe I wasn’t supposed to be here. Maybe I wasn’t good enough.

But here’s what changed. Instead of letting doubt control me, I chose to put my faith in something bigger than myself. I trusted God and asked Him to guide me in the direction I was meant to go. When I surrendered to the idea that my journey was designed for me, doors started opening. I saw that there was a need for my service, and I realized that I wasn’t an imposter. I was a pioneer.

Imposter syndrome doesn’t just disappear overnight, but I’ve learned that just because no one around you is doing what you’re doing doesn’t mean you’re on the wrong path. It means you’re creating a new one. And that’s exactly what leaders do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three Most Important Qualities, Skills, and Areas of Knowledge

Looking back, the three qualities and skills that have been most impactful in my journey are adaptability, self-discipline, and a deep understanding of client-centered care.

1. Adaptability: The ability to adjust to new environments and challenges has been essential. In the mobile spa service industry, I constantly had to work in different locations, meet diverse client needs, and manage unexpected situations. Change is inevitable, and being adaptable will help you navigate it smoothly.

2. Self-Discipline: As a solo business owner, there’s no one else to set the schedule or hold me accountable. Developing strong self-discipline has been key to managing my time and staying productive. I recommend establishing clear goals, creating structured routines, and staying focused. Consistent effort, even on the tough days, leads to long-term success.

3. Client-Centered Care: Understanding the unique needs of each client and offering personalized services has been crucial in setting A Touch of Lavish apart. The focus on providing tailored, luxury experiences has helped build trust and loyalty. My advice is to listen to your clients, understand their individual preferences, and always strive to exceed their expectations.

For those early in their journey, my advice is simple: stay true to your vision, embrace learning, and be open to feedback. Challenges will come, but each one is an opportunity to grow. Surround yourself with mentors and like-minded individuals, and always be willing to adapt and refine your approach.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who values privacy, luxury, and personalized beauty services. They prioritize their self-care and wellness and seek convenience, preferring treatments that fit effortlessly into their lifestyle. These clients are looking for exclusive, by-appointment-only services, whether in their home, office, or another private location. They want a tailored experience that addresses their specific beauty needs and goals. Whether it’s facials, eyebrow services, or other treatments, my clients appreciate a focused, one-on-one experience designed just for them.
