Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kai Livermore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kai, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
For me, music has always been about connecting with people. Whether it’s working with a client or playing in a band, there’s something deeply fulfilling about creating something together — and seeing it resonate with others.
Some of the most meaningful moments in my career come from the simple things:
When someone says “thank you”, or when a piece I wrote gets used by someone else. That kind of appreciation fuels me more than anything.
Lately, I’ve been writing music for media — and honestly, it’s such a joy.
Being able to add music to something that someone has poured their heart into… it’s the best feeling. It’s not about being the center of attention, it’s about supporting a story, amplifying emotion, and being part of something bigger than myself

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I was born in the Japanese countryside to Israeli parents who both had a deep love for music. Growing up, music was always around — but it wasn’t until high school that I picked up the guitar and really started to explore it on my own.
After high school, I moved to Israel to study contemporary jazz and dive deeper into the music world. Eventually, I received a full scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music, where I focused on writing music for media.
At Berklee, I got to experiment with everything from orchestral arrangements to building synth-heavy soundscapes alone in my room. What I loved most was that every day brought a different project — and with it, a new creative challenge.
Now, I split my time between a few different places.
Sometimes I head back to Israel to tour with my band, KENS, or perform in Japan (I’ve even played at Blue Note!). But most of the time, I’m based in Los Angeles, working as a composer and orchestrator for a wide range of media projects.
It’s been a wild, winding path — and I’m grateful for every step of it.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I don’t really feel like I’m in a place to give advice yet — I still have so much to learn.
But if there’s one thing I do feel grateful for, it’s that I always followed my curiosity.
Whenever I felt the urge to learn something new, I just went for it — and looking back, that made a huge difference.
I’ve tried to keep my skills broad, staying open to all kinds of projects and styles.
But honestly, there’s still so much I want to explore. That’s the exciting part.
And now, when I suddenly get inspired and think, “I want to try this!”,
I often realize: past me already laid the groundwork.
And for that, I’m really thankful.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Looking back, I think one of the biggest turning points in my journey was getting the chance to work with so many different companies on a wide range of music. And moving to Los Angeles was huge — not just professionally, but personally too.
Here in LA, every person you meet comes with a new perspective, a new story, or a new opportunity.
People are open, creative, and constantly sharing — and that kind of environment has pushed me to grow in ways I never expected.
Recently, I’ve had the chance to compose music for the trailer of a major video game, and to work on full orchestral recordings for film and media.
These projects are exciting, but what makes them truly special is the collaboration behind them — the people you meet, and the things you create together
