Meet Kaitlin Myers

We were lucky to catch up with Kaitlin Myers recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaitlin, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes directly from my parents. Growing up, I watched my dad work incredibly hard, putting in long hours and making countless sacrifices so he could provide for our family. After spending 18 years with a large company, he was abruptly laid off while being the sole provider for our household. It was a pivotal moment, but instead of letting it define him, he started his own business. I watched him grow from someone working 50 plus hours a week into an incredibly successful business owner. Looking back, all those years of hard work were preparing him for that moment. His vendors saw his dedication and integrity, and when they learned he was going out on his own, they immediately supported him and began using him as their main technician.

Experiencing that, along with being laid off myself, gave me the confidence to start my own design firm. It showed me that hard work compounds and that relationships matter.

I also watched my mom put her own life on hold to pour everything into her children. She gave her whole heart to being present for me and my siblings. Now, as a mother, I understand the depth of that sacrifice. It has shaped how I approach my work and inspired me to build a business that supports my family life, not competes with it.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m an interior designer and the owner of Myers Interiors, where I specialize in creating warm, livable, and thoughtfully curated spaces for real families. What excites me most about what I do is the transformation not just of a room, but of how people feel in their homes. I love blending function with beauty, solving problems creatively, and bringing a client’s vision to life in a way they couldn’t quite imagine on their own.

My work is deeply personal because I build every project around how people actually live. As a mom, I understand the need for spaces that are both elevated and practical, and that perspective shows up in every design decision I make. My goal is always to create environments that feel intentional, grounded, and truly reflective of the people who live in them.

Right now, Myers Interiors is expanding beyond full-service design. I recently launched two new offerings—Virtual Design and Designer for a Day sessions—which allow clients at different stages and budgets to work with me in a more flexible way. These services make professional design more accessible while still delivering the same level of clarity, direction, and style.

No matter the project size, I want people to know that working with Myers Interiors means having a partner who is just as invested in your home as you are. I’m here to make the process seamless, inspiring, and genuinely enjoyable from start to finish.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

When I look back on my journey, the first quality that stands out is resilience. Nothing about building a business is linear, and learning to adapt, regroup, and keep going has been essential. The best way to strengthen resilience is by viewing challenges as temporary and giving yourself permission to grow through them rather than feel defeated by them.

The second quality is curiosity. I have always loved learning, whether that meant researching materials, exploring new design trends, or understanding how other designers structure their businesses. Curiosity keeps you evolving. For anyone just starting out, stay open. Ask questions, observe everything, and treat every project as an opportunity to expand your knowledge.

The third quality is connection. Building meaningful relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, and even fellow designers has shaped my career more than anything else. People work with those they trust, and trust is built through clarity, communication, and showing genuine care. If you are early in your journey, focus on nurturing your relationships. Lead with kindness, be transparent, and follow through on what you promise.

Together, these three qualities have carried me through every phase of entrepreneurship. Anyone who invests in developing them will be setting a strong foundation for whatever path they choose.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is someone who values thoughtful design and trusts the creative process. They come in with an open mind, a general sense of their style or goals, and a willingness to collaborate so we can create something truly personal to them.

The clients I connect with most are those who appreciate quality, understand that good design takes time, and want their home to feel warm, intentional, and lived in. They care about how a space functions just as much as how it looks, and they’re excited about making decisions that support both beauty and everyday life.

What makes someone an ideal client is not their budget or square footage but their mindset. When a client trusts me, communicates openly, and is excited about the journey, we’re able to create a home that feels like an elevated version of who they are. That partnership is where the best work happens.
