Meet Kaiya Hose

We were lucky to catch up with Kaiya Hose recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kaiya , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I found my purpose by trying new things every chance I got and never giving up on what I loved, no matter what stood in my way. From a young age, I knew I wanted to be of service to people who needed me, and that I didn’t want to take part in anything that didn’t make me feel useful to my community. I also knew I wanted to do work that kept me in my creative space. I combined my desire to make a positive impact with my creative thinking and found myself constantly coming up with new ideas to improve my life and the lives of those around me. Over the years, I’ve dabbled in modeling, doing nails, hair, and makeup, all while pursuing an education in Behavior Analysis. I chose this path because I have people in my life whom I love dearly who are diagnosed with autism. I’ve seen them reach heights once thought unimaginable, and that’s what inspired me never to limit myself to what I could become. Now that I’ve completed my degree, I work with autistic children as a Registered Behavior Technician, and I still plan to get certified as a nail technician, among many other goals. I guess you could say my purpose is to be multifaceted and to inspire — to show girls like me that they can be limitless, and that they are exactly who they believe themselves to be.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Professionally, I’m proud to wear many hats. I work as a Registered Behavior Technician, helping children on the autism spectrum develop the skills they need to thrive. My background in Behavior Analysis allows me to bring patience, empathy, and structure into everything I do, whether it’s in a classroom or facility, a creative space, or my own business ventures. I’m deeply passionate about helping others reach their potential, and my work with autistic children keeps me grounded in that purpose every day. Outside of behavioral health, I’m building my beauty brand, ProtoxPolish, which I envision as more than just a nail business — it’s a creative space that blends art, self-expression, and confidence. Doing nails has always been therapeutic for me; it’s where creativity meets care. I love the idea of helping people feel beautiful while also reminding them that they deserve softness, attention, and time for themselves. Modeling is another creative outlet that allows me to express different sides of myself. I’ve always believed in being multifaceted and that women, especially Black women, don’t have to limit themselves to one box. Through modeling and beauty, I express my artistry. Through behavior analysis, I serve, uplift and educate others. Together, those pieces make up who I am and what my brand stands for: empowerment, growth, and authenticity. Right now, I’m focused on expanding ProtoxPolish and getting officially licensed as a nail technician while continuing to grow in my field as an RBT. I want to keep building spaces where creativity and care can coexist, where young women can see that it’s okay to be ambitious, artistic, and purpose-driven all at once.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

One quality that has contributed most to my journey to success is perseverance. I’ve been told on many occasions that certain goals were impossible or unrealistic given the circumstances, but none of that ever mattered to me, nor could it stop me. Two other qualities that have been equally important are adaptability and strategic thinking. I have the ability to adjust to any situation, even in the face of discomfort or limited resources, and I’m able to consider multiple options when figuring out a solution. I hardly allow inconveniences to deter me. My best advice is to believe in your ability to create your own path, be adaptable, and approach challenges strategically. Learn to roll with the punches while also taking a step back to think critically about your next move. Don’t let anyone or anything derail you from what you feel is best for you, because decisions made under external pressure often lead to regret. Whatever you choose to pursue, make sure it is something you truly feel in your heart is the right path and pair that belief with careful planning and adaptability to navigate whatever comes your way.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Over the past year, my biggest area of growth has been learning to truly understand others and be more mindful of what they may be going through, this includes friends and family. I’ve made a conscious effort to move through the world with love and to show up as the kind of friend I may have needed in the past. Shifting the way I show up has not only strengthened my relationships but also allowed me to receive more of what I value in life.
