Meet Kaleb Harden

We were lucky to catch up with Kaleb Harden recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kaleb, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

I keep my creativity alive by trying new things. Wether I am designing new clothes, making new videos, or exploring a completely new creative venture, I always strive to try something different than I’ve done before. I also get bored once I do things more than once the same way. I’ve used this to always allow myself to tweak each project a little differently so I can remain engaged in my work.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I grew up in Valdosta, Georgia.
My southern roots have been constantly a part of everything I do with SIXSEV and my other productions. Growing up and always having a knack for creativity combined with the support of my family, I always felt encouraged to experiment and try new things to further my creative side. My specialty is being able to come up with outside-of-the-box stories and bring them to fruition. With influences and ties to radio, fashion, and video production, I use these to craft new narratives for my projects.
Currently I am designing Six-sev and using it as more than a clothing brand, but a way of expression through print, media, and fashion.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Respect, Humility, Confidence.
Growing up down south, we are big on respect. Treating people the way you want to be treated is how I was brought up. In this industry, you never know who someone is or who someone knows, so it’s important to always treat people kindly. Next I would say humility and confidence are intertwined. You have to be confident in whatever you do. If you don’t believe in yourself nobody will. With that being said, you always have to be humble in your execution. Sometimes a bad idea is a bad idea no matter how hard you push it. You have to be humble enough to receive criticism about yourself and your work.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

The Bible. I would tell everyone to read the bible. If you’re stressed, blessed, cursed, or worse read the bible. Even if you don’t believe in God, read the bible.
