We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kalece Harrison. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kalece below.
Hi Kalece , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I draw my work ethic from my mother, who worked tirelessly to provide for our family while pursuing her education and balancing the responsibilities of managing my brother and me. Her dedication and perseverance continue to inspire me as I witness her ongoing support in promoting my work and helping me secure job opportunities while caring for my twin and me with unwavering love and commitment.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am an active member of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council and serve as a leader in the Royal Blue team at my school. My interests and talents lie in rap, modeling, and acting. My journey in acting began at the age of 6, when I booked my first job as an extra on Mama June to Hot for TV. I ventured into rapping in 2023 alongside my elder brother. He quit rapping, and I enjoyed it and wanted to continue.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back at my journey, I believe that the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful are professionalism, motivation, and rejection. My advice for individuals early in their journey is to focus on developing a strong sense of professionalism, staying motivated during challenging times, and learning from rejections rather than letting them discourage you. Professionalism involves maintaining a high standard of work, ethics, and behavior, which can set you apart in any field. Staying motivated is crucial for overcoming obstacles and achieving long-term goals. Rejections are inevitable, but viewing them as opportunities for growth and self-improvement can be immensely valuable in the long run.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am truly inspired by Queen Latifah and would be honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with her. She has achieved remarkable success as a young rapper, singer, and actress, including winning a prestigious Golden Globe award. Additionally, she made history by becoming the first hip-hop artist to receive a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame. Queen Latifah’s journey is a testament to perseverance, talent, and breaking barriers, and I am eager to learn from her wealth of experience and expertise in the entertainment industry.
