We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kamaya Primm a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Klassie Kandles is a Handmade Soy Candle Company. All products are made with love and will leave our customers wanting more. My bubbly personality shows in each candle that is made. Our candles have wonderful scents and are creatively made to not look like an ordinary candle. Lighting a Klassie Kandle is always an experience, leaving your room always smelling Klassie.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Advice that I would give, would be to never give up on yourself. People tend to give up because of a challenge or because something went wrong. When having a business things go wrong. You figure out what works best for you, correct it and keep going!
Looking back, what I have learned since I started Klassie Kandles is have patience. Creating a business is not just about making money. It is about finding something that makes you happy in the long run. Why just choose to run a business, when you can run a business while doing something you are passionate about.
One motto that I live by from the singer Aaliyah is ” at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again.”
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The number one obstacle that I faced was my organizational skills. As a junior in high school I juggle a lot. Being a full-time student taking classes in person and online, extra curricular activites and a part time job, I have had trouble keeping things in order. I have resolved this issue by getting a planner. Now, I jot everything down in there! I am able to stay on track, be organized and even find time in my schedule for a social life!
Any business can fail without proper management and organizational skills. As my business continues to grow I will eventually invest in a business team. I know this will continue to help me manage things and keep things flowing much easier.
