We were lucky to catch up with Kamber Mosby recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kamber, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I would say I found my purpose when I had my daughter Emme.. she is the Why behind everything I do. At the time I was a single mom bar tending on the weekends outside of my normal Monday-Friday career to make extra money to save up to buy our own home “Emme’s House”.
I got out of a very volatile, abusive relationship I stayed in way too long just because I was afraid to have nothing, start over and most of all share my baby. But, Emme deserved to have a happy mom and be in a healthy, happy home even if that meant struggling for awhile.
I had finally saved up enough to buy Emme and I a home. I met the man of my dreams, my amazing husband Chase. He pushes me to pursue my dreams always. When we got married we decided bar tending on the weekends was not conducive to the family we were building. Which is where we decided to start our business The Freckled Clover.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My favorite part about starting this business is being able to collaborate with other business owners, doing events and pop ups all around the northland. I love being able to show my daughter that you can do anything if you invest in yourself. Watching her interact with customers at events and seeing her radiate confidence is by far the biggest reward for me.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My best advice is “don’t let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game.”
In other words don’t let the fear of failing keep you from taking a leap of faith and investing in yourself.
Keep it quiet before your launch.. My husband and I didn’t tell a soul we were starting a business until after we launched it and were prepared to hit the ground running. why? because our friends and family love us, we didn’t want them asking us reasonable questions out of sheer love and care, causing us to spiral in self doubt, the “what if’s? ”
The what if’s hold almost everyone back.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
I normally get overwhelmed when I over book myself.. I have a full-time Career Monday- Friday 9-5. All of my events are on weekends or weeknights after 5pm.
I have found that the only thing that keeps me sane is my old school paper planner.
