Meet Kamila Iusupova Haynes

We were lucky to catch up with Kamila Iusupova Haynes recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kamila Iusupova, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I get my resilience from the spark I see in my athletes. Watching them face challenges, push their limits, and grow through hard work gives me incredible strength. Every breakthrough moment — every time they surprise themselves with what they can do — reminds me why I love coaching. Their dedication fuels my own perseverance and keeps me moving forward no matter what.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a professional skating and power skating coach and the founder of Kamilaskating — a program focused on helping hockey players and figure skaters develop strong, efficient skating technique. What makes my work special is my focus on body alignment, balance, and understanding the biomechanics behind every movement. I love seeing athletes become faster, more confident, and more aware of how their bodies move on the ice — that transformation is the most rewarding part of what I do.
My approach is very detail-oriented; I focus not only on technical skills but also on mindset, body awareness, and confidence. I truly believe that great skating starts with self-belief and discipline, and I try to build that in every lesson.
Right now, I’m expanding my program and working with more hockey players who want to improve their edge work and speed. I’m also developing new group training formats and off-ice conditioning sessions to help athletes reach their full potential year-round.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are discipline, a “thirst for results,” and a growth mindset. Discipline has allowed me to stay consistent and committed even when progress felt slow. My “thirst for results” — the drive to push for improvement and achieve goals — has kept me motivated and focused. And a growth mindset — the willingness to learn from mistakes and keep improving — has helped me overcome challenges and keep moving forward.
For those early in their journey, my advice is simple: practice consistently, embrace your thirst for results, and stay curious. Focus on building strong fundamentals, use challenges as opportunities to grow, and don’t be afraid to push yourself. Progress comes from steady, intentional effort and genuine passion for what you do.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes, I’m always open to collaboration. I love working with coaches, trainers, sports organizations, and brands that share my passion for developing athletes and promoting skill, confidence, and performance on the ice. Whether it’s creating joint programs, workshops, or events, I’m interested in partnerships that bring value to athletes and help them grow.
If anyone is interested in collaborating, the best way to connect is through my website or social media channels — I’m always happy to discuss ideas and explore opportunities.
