Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kanchan Chhabria. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kanchan, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
In today’s fast-paced world, especially within the creative industry, it’s common to feel a sense of uncertainty as we navigate our professional journeys. One effective way to ground ourselves is by keeping our mission statement and vision in clear view every day. Personally, whenever I find myself grappling with self-doubt or questioning my abilities, I turn to three pivotal questions:
1. Why am I here? What brought me to this moment?
2. Why have I come this far? What foundational principles and beliefs have guided me along the way?
3. What is my ultimate goal, and how can I dedicate more time to achieving it?
These questions act as a reflective mirror, revealing both my strengths and, at times, my weaknesses. More importantly, they provide a pathway out of imposter syndrome. By thoughtfully answering them, I could reconnect with my purpose and the journey that has shaped my professional identity, helping to dispel doubts and reaffirm my commitment to my goals.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
What I do is all about creating meaningful brand experiences and visual storytelling. I love bringing narratives to life, whether it’s through campaigns, design, or my own personal projects. What excites me most is the power of storytelling—how a brand can connect with people beyond just the product, and how emotions and values play such a big role in that. I thrive on building those connections, from the first interaction with a brand’s name to how people feel when they use the product. That’s what I find truly special about my work.
As for what’s new, I recently launched my own brand called Kanche, where I’m exploring my passion for nostalgic illustrations and typography. Through Kanche, I’m working on building a product line that embodies a sense of freedom and peace. I’m designing everything from apparel, paintings, and flower pots to bags and unique packaging ideas. Each product is crafted to evoke a feeling of simplicity and tranquility, something that can offer a little bit of calm in the chaos of daily life.
In terms of my illustration style, I’m really drawn to simple shapes and minimalistic designs. I believe that simplicity tells far better stories than overly complex templates, and that’s something I try to incorporate into everything I create. My designs aim to capture that essence of storytelling—allowing people to connect with something personal and meaningful in an effortless way. Through Kanche, I’m excited to share that vision with the world and continue to explore new ways to express these ideas creatively

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
First, my passion guided me in discovering the most authentic representation of myself. Second, I embraced exploring various mediums and methods of expression, pushing beyond my comfort zone. Lastly, consistency became the key to progress. While I’m still on the journey to reaching my current goal, I recognize that goals will always evolve as we grow, learn, and experience new things. The important lesson here is not to get too attached to any specific goal but to embrace and trust the journey that gets you there.
As creatives, finding your voice is a crucial part of this process. Your voice is the unique expression of who you are and what you stand for, and it often takes time, experimentation, and self-reflection to uncover. It’s important to be patient with yourself and give yourself the freedom to explore. Stay open to new ideas, try different styles and mediums, and don’t be afraid to fail or face setbacks—this is where growth happens.
But equally important is the ability to continually refine and polish your voice as you evolve. Times change, trends shift, and so do you. As you develop your craft, you’ll learn new techniques, encounter new ideas, and expand your perspective. Use these moments to sharpen your skills and reshape your creative voice, keeping it aligned with who you are becoming.
And through it all, stay true to your journey, no matter what challenges arise. As a creative, the early days can be filled with obstacles, doubts, and setbacks. But this is when your dedication and resilience matter the most. It’s vital to give 100% to your work, even when it feels difficult or uncertain. Keep pushing forward, remain consistent, and give everything you have to your craft. These foundational experiences will shape you, prepare you, and ultimately pave the way for your success
So, make the most of your education, explore as many mediums as you can, and seek out co-op opportunities that give you hands-on experience. As an international student, I had limited knowledge of co-ops, but I now realize how valuable they are for growth and real-world experience. Learn, experiment, and most importantly, stay committed to your journey. The effort you put in now will pay off in ways you may not yet imagine.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
We live in an era of personalization, where people connect deeply with the values a brand represents, not just the product itself. Successful brand building today is about showcasing your niche, your story, your strengths, and what makes you truly unique. I believe that our strengths are the most authentic reflection of our identity, the truest expression of our style. This aligns with how people recognize us—not just for what we offer, but for what we genuinely stand for.
Improvement naturally follows when you’re driven by passion and a desire to achieve something bigger and better. With your strengths leading the way, you can always find opportunities for growth if you’re truly passionate. Passion fuels improvement as a natural byproduct, pushing you to constantly refine and evolve
